If your CMOS battery, (usually CR2032) is not branded, I don't expect it to live more than 2 years. It's cheap enough to replace it and note the date somewhere (like a piece of paper taped to the side of the motherboard.)

Take note also, because sometimes instead of CR2032, you will find CR2016 which is thinner and has a shorter lifespan.

Could you guys please stop releasing a new version every 3 days?
Soon there will be a new version before one had the chance to sync the old one.

How many ram memory do I need to run this properly on linux? In case I don't have enough ram, is swap sufficient? Possibly how much ram combined with swap do I need at least?

Request: publish checksums of official builds to at least one, and preferably several, webpages authenticated by HTTPS.

A thread like this would count as one. The plain-HTTP sf.net files area does not.

The PGP-signed SHA256SUMS.asc is the right idea but requires extra steps to check.

Good idea. I nominate you to be the Official Checksum Publishing Person.

How often do you get the chance to work on a potentially world-changing project?

Hello Gavin Andresen. I would like to put an idea forward for the QT client.

A little bit of an update to wallets and layout.

Instead of having 1 total balance for all of your address to have next to each address a small box with amount of coin that address has in it and have the total as is.

This would be a nice little feature so you know how much coin is in each address. Hope to see this in your client.

If you use the Coin Control patch you'll be able to not only see what balance is in each address (with even repeated addresses due to receiving more than one payment there) but also pick which entries you'd like to use to make new payments.

Bitcoin-QT can be used as portable. But it communicates to much with usb stick. And it works very very slow. Is there any development works for that?
This is inherent in storing the entire blockchain. USB sticks are notoriously slow with this workload. I suggest using a lightweight client if you need it to be portable.

What will be supported is storing the blockchain in a different place as the wallet. So if you just need the wallet to be portable, that would be useful I guess.

Bitcoin Core developer [PGP] Warning: For most, coin loss is a larger risk than coin theft. A disk can die any time. Regularly back up your wallet through FileBackup Wallet to an external storage or the (encrypted!) cloud. Use a separate offline wallet for storing larger amounts.

I'm synchronizing with network. It's really boring, but I must do it.

If you want to use the Bitcoin-Qt client you have to. It's the most secure wallet. If you don't want to download the chain then you can use another client like Electrum and or Armory.
Or an online wallet but I don't recommend using those. I recenty had to re-index the chain -.-  It was the second time I ever had to do this since I initially downloaded the client a few months ago.
Yes it takes a long while depending on your computers capability but in the end if you take the correct measures you can rest assured that you're using one of the most secure wallets.
I mean, look what's happening to Inputs.io right now, and it claims ultimate security.

BDB0055 illegal flag specified to DB_ENV->open

I was seeing
Code:
illegal flag combination specified to DB_ENV->open
in db.log too as well as using the latest version from github with libdb5.1.
Removing wallet.dat didn't help.
Changing to libdb4.8 fixed the issue. You can find them in the PPA if you're using ubuntu.
