I'm not using BTC for many reasons, but since it's a necessity in order to trade other coins, I need to use it.
However I only did the mistake of sending BTC between exchanges once, never again! BCH and ZEC are good alternatives to use when you want to send coins between different exchanges.
The fees you pay for the extra trading back and forth are much lower than what you'd pay to send BTC.

Talk about getting your ass kicked by fees!

How can Bitcoin fix this to compete?

Bitcoin fee is high because of many adoption and high transaction, beside that this fee is depends on the market too, higher price means we need to pay even higher as well. But I do not think it is really big problem here, the only matter here as long as you can get your coin to your wallet then it is fine. People complaining high fee because they tend to send only a little bit of money and what is that for? Past and future is really matter now, may be in the past you can get small fee because there is only little transaction but now you can see how big this bitcoin world are

Bitcoin is not really necesary to trade other coins thesedays because there were many online exchanges lately that enables direct trading for a specific coin ( i.e tokens and altcoins ) etherium is the only one that i think necesary needed in order for you to trade your tokens and altcoins because etherium acts as a gas or transaction fees in order to trade them.

@op i guess you  may now avoid bitcoin if your going to use it for any payment method because the fees were indeed pretty high despite of its price drop. You should rather switch out on bitcoincash or any other alts like litecoin and dash for a much lesser fees.

The question is, how would Bitcoin Cash address the same issue if it ever got to the same value and usage as Bitcoin currently has?

it would be unusable...just like eth on cryptokitties...

I think the trnasaction fees in all cryptocurrencies are the number one problem of every traders. They get less profit because of the transaction fees. High transaction fees is one of the disadvantage in all cryptocurrencies.

Fees are not that high. I mean we are talking about security and good technology here. Anyway, when things will be more popular the fees will drop

Fees go up when it gets more popular.  That is why bitcoin is broken.

Isn't an update (called "Thunder" I think) going to solve this problem by the way? Or just using other coins works as well! Grin

It's called the Lightning Network. I haven't seen anyone call Lighting Thunder until now!

Ive been in the same circumstance. i am just having hundred of Tokens and its really cheap and the exchanger demands for almost 1/4 of my token, what should I do? Reject it ? I will lose the entire salary of course so I have to swallow the huge fees they have set which is unfair for those who doesnt have so much to hold we are being prohibited to have our own profit in bigger state.

Are you another person who wants to misinform others? Bitcoin fees are low, couple of cents is enough to pay for the whole transactions. Also, confirmation time is quite good. What are Bitcoin Cash advantages now? It won't have any reason to exist after Lightning Network becomes used by more people. Right now, hardly any wallet supports it so no wonder why it isn't popular among ordinary Bitcoin users. I paid something like 0.00005 BTC for my last transactions, I'm satisfied.

HODLER Open Source Multi-Asset Wallet infrastructure test with $2000 worth of bitcoin for the participants. Read more here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5032817.msg46184177#msg46184177

of course bitcoin has a very expensive shipping cost is in because of the higher bitcoin prices and the density of bitcoin transactions try bitcoin prices down to the price of $ 10 / Bitcoin (BTC) is definitely very small fee.

Perhaps he's referring to Thunder, the Lightning implementation by Blockchain.info.

The fees are getting lower but it is still high. It usually prevent me from certain little transaction because such transaction would have been better not to be carried out. You just lose all your percentage in paying fees.

I think that as the BTC's price is high and the transaction fee is low, so each time it feels good when the transaction occurs as we send btc to other ones. but this is also exposed to changes. as the btc world is making it expands, the btc's prices are getting higher day by day...so there is nothing to worry about.

you cannot compare two different network fees with each other , each coin have different speciality Bitcoin is king and Bitcoin cash is branch of Bitcoin itself. Current rate of transfer bitcoins from one wallet to another wallet is less than 11 sat per byte. As per calculation Fees is only 1% per 100$ which is very less seems
