Lightning Network and Segwit adoption is already progressing well in the background so my honest opinion is that nothing else should be improved with BTC.
Devs are already working on Lightning Network, but with Schnorr multisig is handled like a regular signature, which make transactions more secure.

Technically, Bitcoin doesn't require many improvements beside solving some issues regarding fees and confirmation time, maybe we should think of solving the problèmes of the limited number of Bitcoin which is 21 million.
Otherwise, the only problem is with governments and banks trying to control this cryptocurrency and making it dissapear.
