Have you ever supported, bought or mined a coin that died later on? Why did you support it? What did you learn from it?

I did twice...SIGT and CFD.  Taught me the importance of a good team.

Supported because of greed.  Flash growth blinded me.

I bought one coin earlier. Invested around 1700$ and devs left the project. Price dropped, but I didn't sold any of it. I wanted to sell at one point, but that would mean that I lost the money for sure, so I hold it more. After 6 months new team took the project and they started to developing it. I doubled my money (at one point it was 4x), but I'm still holding it. It's just started to grow. New website is coming out and other stuff and I will wait. I guess I was lucky that someone continued to develop, otherwise my money would be lost. It's not the lonely case of bringing dead coin alive, but watch out in both ways.

Yes, I bought very weak coins.
For example, POP, PAC, PHO, DIME, ZEIT. To wait for pumps. It worked, but profit was not always taken. In general, it turned out very profitable.

I supported Fantomcoin when it was dead, mostly because I had some, then I was unable to move then or do anything about them because the network was basically frozen. I think I actually lost them on Poloniex, it got delisted and I didn't get them out of the wallet. It's unfortunate, it would have been competition for Monero I guess.

I was going to sell them anyway, but like I said, the network is frozen. It's pretty bizarre when a coin dies, everything just becomes frozen like a frozen universe (some say that is the final fate of the universe).

Yes, without caring to name them, the ones I recall were all part of my journey into Proof of Stake coins. I heard about them in 2016, along with Bitcoin but it was only in 2017 that I tried to download some of the wallets and try staking myself. To be fair, only one or two have "died" in the sense that the wallet just stopped working with so many forks happening and the devs unable to fix it. I didn't lose very much since I bought them cheap. Lesson learnt: PoS isn't worth the time of the average guy like me.

I think most people have been subject to that. Sometimes there are warning signs and we ignore them or choose to ignore them. Mostly would be when they wound up being scams. If not then it would be when the team constantly over-promise and under-deliver.

We can learn from our past and try make better informed decisions in the future but it's likely that we'll still invest in some coins that fail, that's just part of the nature of cryptos. Just hope that the successful ones make up for the unsuccessful ones!

To be honest i have not invested in such a coin but yes there have been many coins that have forced me to wait for many months for even breaking even, some of my coins are still very low from my entry point but it is market, never regret.

I have never bought a coin that later died. But I have bought into a few ICOs that never actually turned into coins. Just apparently took all the ICO money and ran. Never listed on any exchanges or even coinmarketcap.

As a result, I don't participate in ICOs anymore.

I haven't. However, I really think that the higher the risk you will take, the higher the possible profit you will get. A dead coin can still be profitable in terms of trading since a lot of people doesn't even care and make their research before buying something. Some traders would even buy coins that has no function at all just for the sake of trading and income.

Is that coin by chance bytecoin? I think that the dev team eventually got their heads round the project and made a web wallet. Quite a good one.

I did few times and the feeling is not good.

Why did I support it? For the usual reason - I saw a potential in the project.

What did I learn from it? Actually nothing, because here we are talking for 4 ICO's in 2017 from 50+ and my ICO criteria remains the same. Just some projects are failing hard.

I used to often take part in airdrop and get the same coins that many bought. I can say for sure that 80% of coins were dead, but those ICO and airdrop who had a good team and a competent roadmap continue to develop further and their coins grow in  price. And if I bought 1000 coins from each ICO and airdrop, from which I received the coins, I would still have stayed in profit even with the dead coins.

I do support dead coin often, it's like lottery ticket you can buy them in cheap prices and sold all of them in bull season. but most often i use to buy potential projects that is why i love the crypto space, it's like a money heaven machine. Lol i recommend to buy coins on top 10 they are all potential.

Had an airdrop last year which had a value after it hit exchangers but it is considered as dead now since its developer run away, withdrawing everything on its wallet. I am talking about XMRG where it got listed on an exchanger and then gone. Why I supported it? Not really sure but I'm a hodler person so that's maybe the reason why. Good thing it is just an airdrop so there's no hard feelings.

Yes and now we see many dead coins coming back to life with new teams, for example DIME is back with a new team, POP is back, PAC also so if there are a few satoshi lying around it wouldn't be crazy to invest in a few 1 satoshi coins.

I supported Letstalkbitcoin's own token, even though it was sort of dead.

I remember making a couple of bucks per day from using their forum to reap some rewards. And I learned a lot about counterparty as well. I thought that the price of LBC should go up sooner or later but I was wrong.

Anyways, now it's listed only on the counterparty DEX. What did i learn? All crypto projects, even though they may be hot, can die off eventually. There are always competitors out there.
