to be honest, I too have thoughts about suicide about a year ago but I overcome it.
Depression is one of the main reason of suicidal thoughts and having a depression is not a joke it was like waking up every morning but you already feel dead.
The best way to overcome it is to seek help from other people who went through it. Not the people that will judge you, but the people that will listen and understand you for who you are.
Also, remember that God is always with us and everything that makes our life difficult is just a challenge that will lead us to something much better.

Suicide is increasing because as Social Media is expanding, social isolation is even more so. I'm not saying that this is the only reason, but rather this a significant contributing factor. In essence, human beings need a personal connection to one another, but with the increasing 'improvements' of technology and communication nowadays, the shallower the human connection is. That is why, in developed countries, suicide have higher statistics.

Another factor is the more complicated way of life. Society today is more demanding and competitive. People are pressured more to become performance-driven and result-oriented. Ironically, it seems we are competing with robots to retain our jobs and maintain this so-called quality of life. We are pressured to show to the whole world we are more competent, wealthier, better and more fun.

No wonder more people are becoming depressed due to the pressures of society. Just look at HongKong and Japan where their jobs are more important - when they lose their job, they rather fall to their death than face the heavy burden of having no income and the feeling of purposelessness.

Suicide is the solution for the hopeless. Depression is just the beginning, so I strongly suggest that if you already have the signs, seek for help.

I'm glad you overcame your depression. I also experienced depression many times, but I found out that one way to survive it is through genuine human connection. This is through surrounding yourself with people who are willing to listen and understand you. But the most important thing is that you should be willing to cooperate in order to get well. There are people who wants to help us, and we just need to allow ourselves to be helped. I also have friends with depression but they still suffer from it because they think they have no option to get well. They continuously refuse assistance from others. I have compassion for them, because they are the most difficult people to deal with, but it doesn't mean that we have to give up.

I'm also happy that that you found God in the process. I'm a believer in God. I don't force my own beliefs to people, but the best way to show them you care is through extending a hand to them.

I mean with all these talent shows, we place an unfair judgement on people who actually try hard to improve themselves. We forget how to give constructive criticisms and really how to take criticisms. Since people almost live their lives on social media, just look at comment sections in YouTube. I mean it's a very harsh and toxic environment
