I'm running last bitcoind executable in Linux. But when I want to stop it

Code:
bitcoind -stop

I get error message:

Bitcoin: Cannot obtain a lock on data directory /home/shevek/.bitcoin.  Bitcoin is probably already running.

Of course, it is running!  Tongue

Hmm.  And I was thinking that this was going to be an off-topic bitcoin cheerleading thread.

I just added this to the wiki because when I first started using bitcoind I couldn't figure out how to stop it either without resorting to some googling and finding 'bitcoind stop' in a random thread from these forums.

by the way whoever posted this screenshot on the client page, nice brag.  Am I 'jelly'? Yes, I am jelly.

Those are testnet addresses. They start with m or n instead of 1. The testnet has been reset a while ago (and probably will be again) so difficulty was 1 and it was *really* easy to generate Smiley

that is abundantly obvious now, for some reason when I saw it at first I ignored the addresses and just kept staring at the transfer sizes and how quickly it was mining blocks of 50  Shocked
