I have read through all the guides and had this working briefly but got interrupted and did not save something right.
Can't seem to get the proxy to pick up the miner. Can anyone look at these and see if I'm doing something obviously newb?

try changing the blades IP to a lower number. that may not be in range set for your router. I had the same problem, lowered IP settings to .200 and it worked

It's working.  Two problems.  Power was not right for some reason.  Not sure why.
And I did need to change the ip address.  249 was too high.
Thanks for your help guys!
