i have been wondering why i have been stuck on the Jr. Member level for so long with so many posts, realized its lack of Merits.

So what do people do that is not normal to receive merits and if i gave my one merit to a post i feel deserves, how does that affect me?

I only have one merit and want to give it to this guy with a very nice post but i don't know if that means i am back to zero.

I would be happy to become a member or even a full member after being stuck on Jr Member for this long and 24 hours online precense so far.

Thanks for any help on this troubling question.

I am sure you all had been in my position at one time and know it's very frustrating.

Thanks

Check out the Meta board - a TON of posts on there related to merit. Otherwise: Post high quality and use the forum. Over time that should work out.

It's possible to earn merits by making constructive posts (no begging). If you give merits, they won't be deducted from your account.

Yes i just learnt that today. I was going to give the merit i have but found out it has to be an sMERIT and i did not have those.

With time i will get there.

For how long have you been a member? I envy the badges seniors like you wear. Must feel good to be ranked this high.
I am on my way and in the near future i believe i will be up there with your and many other respectable Bitcointalk senior members

Merit feature is launched just a month ago and it will take time to inculcate the same so we can expect anywhere between 6 to 8 months from now for the members to use it in a natural manner. As merit points depend on the quality of the post, you should focus on contributing to the forum in a better way. Merit is like a Facebook like, you can't buy it or force someone to do it on your posts, everything will happen naturally till then focus on quality content.

Partake in healthy conversations. Try to avoid most of the bullshit megathreads like "what do you think about Bitcoin?" or "Will Bitcoin reach $20,000?". Instead, look for topics that truly interest you, and write some well-thought replies. If your goal is to earn Merits so that you can rank up, the best way to do that is by showing your interest and knowledge (or desire for knowledge) about something you're passionate about. You're rarely going to get merited for posting in megathreads...

Just please do not become a shit-poster. I can see from your post history that you do have some shit posts, so try to focus on QUALITY moving forward, not quantity.

And check out the Meta board; there are PLENTY of threads about Merit, and even some where members are giving them away to posters that feel they are worthy (and actually are).

Same question all the time, so I'm gonna quote what I wrote earlier, hope you gonna get the point

Q: Well, how to collect Merit points?
A: "You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points you get as sMerti (sendable Merit) and they can be sent by you to other people."

Q: OK but c'mon, how to get Merit points on my posts?
A: There is no recipe for collecting merit but here are some guidelines the most important is to try to contribute in some way to the forum. Stay away from breaking the forum rules, learn proper English in order to communicate effectively with the community, be helpful and creative, and the last advice is: don't push it too hard, you just gonn stuck on your current rank. Improving yourself will improve your rank too, I'm sure.

Q: Who is giving these points?
A: There will be certain people called "merit sources" which will give points to quality posts. They are 49 at the moment I wrote the , see Merit Statistics link below. In addition according your rank and the merit points you have received you can also give to posts you like, so we can say that everyone can give Merit.

Q: How many points I have ?
A: Follow the link Check your merit, there you can check your points and there will be listed also the points you have recieved and for which post and the points you have given.

Q: I want to know more about the Merit Points System
A: You have to follow the Merit & new rank requirements link below, it's a long discusion there.

Make 100 accounts Grin
I hope it's sarcasm... Anyway, making 100 new accounts can't help in this case because Newbie accounts have 0 sMerit. But if you have higher ranked account and you are sending Merit to your alts, it would be Merit abuse and you may get negative trust rating from DT members for doing that.

Wasn't there something about sMerits or something? A limit to the number of merits you can give?

Yeah, sMerit are the points you can send.
When you are rewarded with Merit points, you receive also half of the rewarded amount as sMerit.
There are no restrictions in sending sMerit, expect that you can send up to 50 sMerti to one account for 1 month.
You can check what I wrote here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2534500

I think he was just joking. I can barely manage this one account so i don't know how i would manage 100 accounts.
I do not want to get negative trust or abuse this wonderful community i just found not too long.

Double spacing won't help you to earn merits. It could cause some readers to skip your post, and then you have lost the chance of getting a merit for it.

Just gave you 1 merit. I think earning more merit is by how you contribute to the forum. Contributing doesn't just mean sharing your ideas but also asking questions wherein other people might also want to ask. It helps give information not just to you but to the whole community.

Thanks to @iasenko for the solid explanation. Smiley

We are here to give you all the latest from the Cryptocurrency space!

Around 8 months after your beginning day in the forum, October 30, 2017, 04:59:45 PM, you have not ever known how to use Forum Search Function (please take it easy because it's just my guess).

Here you go:
(Tips) Guide for forum search

Additionally, I would prefer to give you bunches of other helpful topics, which are likely relevant to your current interests:
tbct_mt2's Guideline on some forum functions, English texbooks
One merit to rank up service. Jr. to Hero members are welcome
Different ways to earn merits
TMAN's guide to getting merits
Full Member thanks to merit system (iasenko)

Moreover, you can apply the tips on Forum Search to find more useful topics by yourself.
Another tip is you should follow prestigious members, then learn from their helpful topics, threads, discussions.

Lastly, never begging for merits will help keeping you safely from risks of being added to Ignore Lists of other forum users.
