I've seen various questions about how to avoid having to use a paperclip, some love the paperclip, some fear the power it holds. There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

They are on amazon with a 5 pack for 14$, they are cheap and work great for my psu's, I haven't tried the one in OP but I don't like the cable and switch, it gives the impression of easily broken. I looked on Amazon and could not find them, what are they called? |

The bitmain ones are pretty solid with their design. It uses a decent amount of PCB which is nice to hold it all together. I have used paperclip's if I did not have a switch. If you do make sure to use electrical tape to make it stay in. I would wrap it with some electrical tape, and never did have an issue. |

I found and ordered the Bitmain one on Amazon. Right now I am using a paperclip/electrical tape. Having the ability to turn off the miner will be nice. My PSU has a switch, so I could just use that switch, but I have heard that PSU's last longer if they are not disconnected from power completely. I believe that the hard switch on the PSU itself removes power completely, like unplugging it. I may be wrong, but for $5 it will be great to have both options.

It's like they took the EVGA one that ships with high end ATX psu's and improved it with a switch. How much does that one cost? |

I would agree bitmain have a beautiful switch. But if I could design it I would have no exposed joints. I have my cords pretty organized, but if that would ever hit metal on back it would not be good. |

Quick question - do you need to use some electrical tape to make sure it does not slip off the PSU connector? Or does it use the latch that is on the connector? It looks like some of them latch and some do not.

You can see above in one of the blue pictures of it. It has a spot that it latches on. So no electrical tape is need. It's a pretty quality product. It makes me think maybe I should switch some I currently have on paper clip. |
