I was wrong.

Well this at least shows greater maturity than 98% of the comments on the forums, no?
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Ok guys, please clarify this for me:

How can this Atlas guy try to put a subreddit for sale. What is his part in it? Is he the owner of the subreddit?
Was he the original creator of the subreddit "Bitcoin" and now he tried to sell it now that it has gotten bigger?

I just want to get some clarification on this situation cause I don't really understand.

He was trying to sell moderator privileges over it, which is against the Reddit rules.

Omg. This boy will never seize to amaze me...
I just wish he could chill the fuck out and stop spamming the forums and please stop doing stupid and weird things like this.

And for all the 78438 projects he intends to start up in the name of liberty, for which he by some unknown reason needs a lot of donations, I don't really have an opinion of.
I think it's kind of great that Atlas is a driven person who has a lot of faith in bitcoin but maybe he should try to finish some of the things he starts?

Quote from: Shinobi
If I cared a little more, I'd go through the effort of dredging up all the libertarian, morality-as-the-guiding-post-of-social-order swill you've spewed on this forum so that you could bake in your hypocrisy. Typical "libertarian" - just a greedy little shithead hiding behind a big word.

First of all, your hostility is bad for this forum. This over-aggressiveness towards Atlas is just distasteful and shows insecurity.

Second, advocating violence is worse than being greedy. You, by advocating for government mandates to punish people through force for engaging in non-coercive behavior, are being truly immoral.

http://www.reddit.com/r/BitMarket/comments/itkl7/for_auction_rbitcoin/

Totally unethical & a down right insult to the Redditque.  Angry

Considering that /r/Bitcoin is always dead anyway, it's also a poor investment.

I used to be annoyed by Atlas' posts to the point of anger. Now, I simply feel pity for the poor boy. While those of us not blinded by the ideological platitudes he spouts view him as a retarded nephew, due to the sheer volume of his posts many newcomers feel that his views are the prevailing ones around here. This, sadly, inhibits widespread adoption of bitcoin by the other 90+% of the planet that does not subscribe to the Libertarian ideology. Every post he makes further cements in readers' minds that Bitcoin == Libertarianism, and therefore helps assure that there will never be widespread adoption by the mainstream. You know, the people you need to actually make this work.

I was wrong.

Thanks for admitting. And to your defense: I didn't know reddit would disallow selling subreddit control. This is not some a priori fact, is it? Domains can be sold... I'm not questioning reddit's choice, just pointing out it might not be as clear to everyone as it apparently is to some.

Just to put things into perspective: A lot of people profit from something more than they "should" (in the mind of some). A good example: early bitcoin miners. Do you think they are all asses?

With all the fucking pyramid scammers and other bullshit things happening in the world of bitcoin, this is nothing more than a hiccup, and props to Atlas for realizing he made an error and admitting so.

Guys, the fact that he is 17 isn't nearly as important as the fact that he's from Texas. It's a totally different culture, even if it is technically within US territories. Don't get too weirded out by it.
