This is one on the most popular ways to scam you. That is why everybody should bookmark https://www.myetherwallet.com/ and access it only using bookmarks and never use link from email.

Thanks for letting the community know about. It's scam and everyone should be careful. Myetherwallet will never send an email to you requesting for any personal. you have your own private and can control your wallet at your own risky.

I received an email from MyEtherWallet to claim some tokens of an airdrop I joined. Hovering my mouse over the link,  I discovered it's a link to another cgi scripted site.

Interestingly you don't create MEW wallets using email addresses.

Guys be careful and be vigilant.
Throw that email in the trash. If you looked at the email address of the person who sent the email then you could send his messages automatically to spam.

always be careful with the email on behalf of myetherwallet, there are many spam emails on behalf of myetherwallet by attaching a phishing link. there is a lot of phishing web to cheat sign in MEW account, including myehterwallet.com, myetherwaliet.com, and many others.

There are many scams like this which require you to send ETH via e-mail. Too bad I got burned once, but at least I learnt my less.
Stay away from any e-mail that contain an ETH address.

Thanks for this discussion and posting it to this forum. This will be a big to help to us. Guys, you should always be careful whenever you receive a link from someone or pop up that says you have to click that link no matter what. Always be mindful whenever someone asked us to open the link for us. One time on telegram someone sent me a link saying that there's an airdrop coming. Good thing I'm aware enough of those kind of tricks that's why he won't fool me.

Thanks for informing us about this. This could be a scam site, as you stated MEW didn't requires to put an email to have a wallet. This is very alarming to us, bounty hunters and all investors. Up for this because we become aware of this kind of modus.

Luckily you have found out it was just another phishing attempt. As far as I know MyEtherWallet does NOT send email to its customers, first of all because it does not know their addresses ! Cheesy

Something like that was also sent to me a few days ago, luckily I found out that this is just a pishing attempt. Just like a typical pishing activity, this email will allow someone to get access with my account and might possibly use to get personal info with all tge accounts related to me. Always remember that myetherwallet do not have a feature of notifying someone about the coins to be claimed. In addition, keep yourself from filling up form that requires your private info, usually this kind of phishing activity is obtained from filling up in an airdrop.

myetherwallet will never send a email to anyone to invest in anything. because they know this will be exploited in scams. never trust emails asking you to invest in things. emails are used in most scams.

Should this to your attention, because MyEtherWallet wallet is decentralized, it won't send any email to you, your personal information was leaked, so you should ignore this message, don't let the cat out of the private key.

Lately, there are a lot of scammers, especially many phishing sites, and malicious programs. You always need to carefully use your wallets and, if possible, install the anti-virus. And also make bookmarks in the browser

Be careful about that email, maybe it's a phishing URL. I suggest all of you to not open and any URL from email. It's very risky.
Always use https everywhere addons or Metacert addon to prevent you visiting a phishing site.

MyEtherWallet never sends emails out like this and they don't even have access to the user bases emails. hopefully people are smart enough to not fall for this.

Do not ever log into MEW from anywhere except a bookmark you already saved before after you've verified you entered the exact URL correctly. Only ever access MEW by clicking on this Bookmark. Do not click any "special links" saying that there's an exception to this rule for one reason or another. There are no exceptions. Remember this always. If you forget it, consider your coins gone.

Classic fishing attempt. It is sad that many newbies are clicking on such suspicious mail links.
Fortunately, my anti-spam filter blocks most of these messages.

It's better to be paranoid, and do not go by the links !!!  Especially MEV is not relevant to your mail.  I have friends lost so much money on MEV.  Perhaps now they will take security issues more seriously.

You just have to remember that you didn't give any e-mail address when you created your wallet in MEW so why should they e-mail you about an airdrop. It is an obvious scam but unfortunately, there are still many people who would fall for this scam in an excitement to receive an airdrop. One thing I learned in crypto world is to always check the senders address and link and if any of it is from MEW or Etherdelta then it would just be a scam. I read about it here in the forum and I want to warn every one to never entertain any e-mail coming from them supposedly and just delete it.

I would just like to add that sometimes, you'll receive an e-mail from an exchange saying you need to log-in because of some reason. You should not click the link given to you because most likely that is a phishing site. Always check the senders address if it is really from the exchange.
