Merits for the newbies and jr members

As i am reading here in the forum, i notice that some merit sources sends merits to the one who have higher ranks (Legendary member). I know that they post high quality topics but for me, legendary member dont need more merits because they have a lot. They are also the ones who gives merits to the members who post good topics so why giving them a lot?

Why not send merits to the newbies or jr members who are capable of posting good topics?

Merits are meant to reward meritable posts. Higher ranks might not need them but that doesn't mean to say they should just be sent to lower ranks making poor to average posts. If a lower ranked member makes quality contributions then they will likely be rewarded (see nullius).

I have been looking and it seems that so many non native speakers have infiltrated the forum, these people are now moaning about not getting merits - how Hero and Legendary members are getting all the merits ETC ETC. But the fact is that there are few people in the lower ranks who are making sense or contributing much that deserve merit..

I agreed this, those high rank must be pay attention to those lower ranks and review their post if deserving to have smerit.
Mostly now i saw here in forum high rank gives smerit also to the higher rank or just those well known account here who earned more smerrit compared to the newcomers did not recognized. Some lower ranks posted here in meta section just to be notice for somebody and receive smerit (right?)

If they are recognized you then you received smerit, even though we have a good quality post if they did not liked us it's nothing.

You have valid point since merit is directly related to ranking up.

Current merit system is playing two major role;
1. Raking up
2. Determining the post quality

But when it's coming for Legendary case then it's losing its own use-case.

1. You give merit to a Legendary you are wasting the limited merit source since it has no use for them on raking up.
2. Their posts (those are good) will not get recognition if you do not give them merit thinking these merit has no use of ranking up.

I think Instead of allowing sMerits to the Legendary members something we need to figure out that how to make them merit source. Not all of them of-course. There will be voting system (or something like that where community will decide), Legendary members who are really caring for the forum will be awarded as merit source. Let's not deny that all Legendary members will be qualified for that but here again their good post will not be recognised since you can not sMerit them.

May be how about a special form of crediting feature for them. Such as upVote or like their post? (Not sure   )

Some people might not consider there to be a lot of value in giving merit to higher ranking members but if their posts contribute quality and are on point, they do deserve it.  I am not going to lie, it has been difficult to rank up since merit came in place but it is something that we all have to deal with now.  I was a a few days away from becoming a member when merit was inserted into the picture, so it is taking longer but it is not worth crying over.  I think it should have been put in place for a while to see how it worked and then been added to the formula for ranking up.  Like a test run to see how it performed.  It is having an effect on the number of spam posts which is a great thing...now if we could just cut down on the people selling accounts or having multiple accounts to farm merit.

Legendary members don't need merits to rank up, but they deserve to get merits if they post high quality, helpful threads. Furthermore, they should get merits because they are proficient and experienced enough to verify which posts are high-quality, constructive ones in order to give those one merits. That makes sense.

Merit-sourced members will send their sMerits to Newbies and Junior members if those ones deserved. Don't worry.

To be fair, you said the exact opposite. You said that Legendary members don't need merit. You thread subject says "Merits for the newbies and jr members". If this merit system is going to be "free market" it needs to be available for everyone.

Many of them are!

The challenge with merit is that humans aren't methodical or consistent by nature. You can't expect every merit sources to read through every board with the same frequency, equally. E.g., if lower ranks are making posts in the Beginners & Help board those posts aren't going to be viewed by as many merit sources (if any), because most senior people don't read through Beginners & Help posts!

I've asked to become a Merit Source specifically, exclusively for Beginners & Help, but i've received no response.

I'm always trying to do that. But finding high quality posts among Newbies is a hard task.

Have you ever thought that most users will only merit high ranks because they tend to make good posts and that has nothing to do with the user's rank? I personally never look at the rank before deciding whether someone deserves merit or not. However, I still have plent of sMerit to give because I try to hold some for the lower ranks and I can't find any. If I decided to merit every high quality post, I would have none by now because 95% of all good posts are made by Legendary/Hero users.

Talking is easy, but do you really deserve any merit? Post here/PM me any of your HQ posts (if you have any) and if you deserve, I will merit you.

I get your point sir but im not aiming any merit for this post. I just wanna inform you that some who are in lower ranks deserve merits. Im not into merits by the way sir im okay with my rank. And im still learning here in the forum thats why i cant post high quality topics
