Create a level above Legendary

Please create a level above Legendary.

My vote would be to call it Mythical.

Why:
-   Legendaries are bright, energetic, experienced (quirky, opinionated) people, if they don’t have something to work to, they will turn their energy to other distractions
-   Legendaries have a lot of experience, a new level will help pull that out.
-   Its human nature to compete
-   I have found people need to be motivated to perform best
-   Everyone needs a goal to work to
-   A lot of legendaries exist simply because of time momentum, this will bring out true leaders
-   Merited post of legendaries could be used to create a BOK (Book of Knowledge)
-   Their merited posts would serve as models to lower ranks

Requirements
-   Merit required 2500 total
-   No added activity requirements (then it’s all about quality, not quantity)
-   No automatic level up. Once hitting the required merit, it should be voted on by a panel created by Theymos
-   No ‘race to the top’.  No more than 10 merits allowed from one account to another per month
-   No merit awarded for work previous to February 1, 2018 would count in the 1500 new merits (legendaries already received 1000 merits for that work, the new rank would be forward looking)
-   Leveling up to Mythical is a privilege that you need to work to. Smerits are meant to be spent.   Encouraging ‘merit-worthy’ posts is part of the ‘job’ of a Mythical. As such, if a legendary has not awarded a minimum number of merits per month, the remaining amount should be deducted from accumulated Mythical merit. (Sort of like a signature campaign, you want Mythical, you work for it)
-   Minimum merits never drop below the 1000 historical merits awarded
-   If the average user (me) has to use a dictionary, no merits awarded for that post (nullius) (just kidding)

Logistics
-   Might need a second merit tracker for Legendary only: Mythical Merits
-   Would need a page to show the top 10 in the ‘race’ and links to their merited posts

Questions
-   What to do about negative trust, related or not. (my take is the panel would judge)

That is a good idea somehow but my opinion before that we need a clear path to go legendary for even newbies who working hard.but with the merit system a person who working hard can not earn merit and up their forum ranks no one give merits for good posts and some shitposts have bunch of merits soo we need a great solution for motivate who try to do good thing in forum in any rank

A new rank, with a merit award requirement, might help this situation, as the people with the largest bank of merits would have to distribute to 'level up'.

You have to help yourself by writing something that is not filler, spam or junk.

We are still testing Merit system.

The current merit system has it's hole, people are lacking it's use-case. Improvising it will take much longer time (May be). Bringing a new direction on the table may make the entire system a mess. Plus I wonder why do you need another rank? What is the use case?

PS: The idea of Merit system itself is working great. We see people are more focused on creating good contents rather than posting shits.

Are you asking theymos to create a rank for himself, alone?
Another thing, the point of the Merit system is to limit shitposting, if legendary members will compete to have this silly requirement then low rankers could whine moar!
Third, make a list of trusted members and the ones that give the information you need and follow them, legendary doesn't mean that he isn't a scammer nor a trustworthy person... A low rank guy could help the community by far comparing to half of the high ranked members...

why should the rest of the users care about what legendary members do? if legendaries want to "turn their energy to other distractions" then tha's their problem, who cares?

What the use? As their current rank they can demote others with the same level as their's.
They can monitor others and function the same as what are their current rank right now.
I think no need for that kind of rank.

Probably means that they've become legendary rank because there was no merit system before, so they just had to post and wait. Tho that time "momentum" lasted for a few years.

lol Yeah, there is a book like this in the deepest dungeons of this forum. I'm preparing a party of humans, dwarves and elves to go explore the dungeons and, hopefully, find the Book of Knowledge. First tho, we'll have to pay a visit to the Grand Wizard Theymos to share his wisdom with us before out journey. btw the book of knowledge gives you only +10 intellect and +5 spirit, noting that special tbh.


But seriously, there's absolutely no need for a new rank. Why? Because with the new merit system, getting ranks will be way, way slower and the number of people becoming legendary rank will be far significantly lower than it was before.

I think 2500 is achievable for a legendary in less than 8 months

theymos can do it today, he has 2594, the person just under him has gained  686 so far this month.

There are currently 50 people that have gained 151 or more merits in the last month

Adding another rank will split the active legendaries from those that got the status by merely being here for a long time.

I think it depends on the negative feedback of one account because i see some account who have red tagged continue contributing in this forum, they share some good thoughts and answers some question of newbies that is why they deserve merit if someone gives to them. But if the account had history of scamming i think their is no such reason to give them a merit.

Thanks Vod, I fixed my typo.

As a Full Member I got 100 merits, and have to go to 250 to get Senior Member, a 2.5 multiplier, I applied it here, Legendary is 1000, Mythical (or whatever) would be 2500.

edit: but 2000 would work, the first rank up would be in about 4 months

This is not a forum about essay and literature writing. You don't simply take contribution from untrustworthy people in real life why would we take that matters lightly here.
