Yeah this is a fire hazard in both, the flaming and pink slip, senses of the word.

It is also really awesome.

You can't truly be awesome without risking it all.
If you disagree with this statement, it is because you are not awesome.

Carry on, you crazy bastard.

Id be worried about fire's as well.
Such as a rat gets up there chews cables shorts it out computer goes off rat dies.
Youv set it up to turn back on so it does, brings rat back to life and lights it on fire.
Flaming rat runs around spreading fire.

you can start a fire well before the cards will shut off. especially in a crawl space like that. can't you just steal electricity from a neighbor or something?

I would be worried about fire too; both direct (the hardware itself eventually bursting into flames) and indirect (the heat doesn't got much place to go and eventually accumulates enough to light up somthing up there)

(I dont always get new reply notifications, pls send a pm when you think it has happened)

Might not be a half bad idea to have a webcam up there along with it.  Or you could create some crazy thing with a smoke alarm that would trip a relay for the power source instead of sounding a piezo.

I don't think a fire would be a huge concern, just make sure everything is not running extremely hot and you're not pulling more amps than the PSU or extension cord can handle.

A box fan might be good for pushing the hot air down further.

If I was able to help you out, please consider donating.  Any amount is greatly appreciated! Smiley

Or put it in a better box which would contain any fire if there was one and would keep any pests out.

Running cooler than my single 5870, so that's definitely a plus.

Good PSUs have short circuit protection, so if a trace were to arc over to another and start smoldering, either on the GPUs or the Mobo, the PSU should kick off and will continue to until the short is gone.  What make/model are the PSUs you're using?

I love the fact you're retarded.

But for like $40 you could run it at home without the risk of fire, getting fired, or prison time if the fire kills someone.

Tough call. Tongue

The worry isn't the PSU continuing to fuel a fire. It just takes a spark to possibly start a fire, especially since there appears to be wooden planks and beams, the dry heat from the rig would ensure the environment is perfect to encourage a fire. Pretty much like how hot dry summers make it easy for wild fires to start. And sawdust (or dust of any flammable material) are extremely combustible.

Each system draws just under 700w under full load.
