Hey Joe, Its been a great week ahead for quality posts and Meretrix and butka is really great in posting good quality posts. As promised for this week I gave off my 2 merits to butka and Meretrix for their posts. I think you have not read my Edit 1 of my previous post? Anyways I will be giving away merits in definitely until all my smerits are gone. So I don't like to commit myself for 7 or 8 rounds. Can you please update this in the Main topic of yours? Posts I merited: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3219459.msg33483815#msg33483815https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3237021.msg33714060#msg33714060Though I was trying to give off both my merits to Meretrix to his erotic bitcoin novel, it would have been against my rules. But I will keep an eye on this Bitcoin Novel, as it written really well. The Bitcoin Novel must be posted in a well recognized board so that most of the forum members would read them and pour their merits on him. Such a good quality post present in Off topic is really bad. Hope week 5 would produce the same quality as week 4. P.S. I would never give my merits to Jr- legendary. All my smerits would be given only to Newbies who participate in this challenge and produce great quality content. Edit 1 : There is no need of thanking anyone. In this case we guys should thank you for stepping up with such a wonderful idea. As of now there are a total of 17 smerits with me which would be distributed through 8 weeks without any difficulty.

Oh, apologies and much thanks! I'll add it as a "Bonus Prize for Newbies", in addition to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Consolation. Can you please let me know when you're running low on sMerit so that I can update the top thread and remove your name, if needed? Thank you so much for doing this!!

I think that the consolation is for all participants that who did not won the challenge. Consolaton is the comfort received by a person after a loss or disappointment and suffered. I'm so disappointed with this.

Round 4: Notes & Critique butka: Look at you! Generating private keys by hand... Your dedication to Bitcoin has REALLY shown through this round, and I'm glad that this forum has a member like you. You've asked all the right questions (designed so that the answers that others leave will help everyone reading, not just you), posted some of your findings and research, provided guides for newbies, and have received criticism very well for your posts. I'm going to brief in stating that you are the model participant of this challenge. The only criticism I have for you is to be careful not to partake in megathreads ("Do you trade crypto?"), as they are designed solely to produce spam for the purpose of ranking up member accounts and activity. I didn't mark you down too much for your post there, as you obviously posted before it became multiple pages, but once you spend some more time here on the forums, it'll become easier to see which topics are posted for the sole purpose of spamming the boards. GREAT job this week!
Thank you Joe so much! I didn't see this coming. I'm both happy and surprised. Could you please donate my $25 prize or increase the funds for the future rounds of your challenge. I'm glad to be here, I'll do my best to contribute in a constructive way.

'' I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you're just a little bit above the average shitposter. Your posts are in mainly megathreads or topics that were designed specifically to farm member ranks and activity. The topics you posted in (and one that you created and then abandoned) are completely unsubstantial, and your posts are also non-contributive and show little effort. While it's obvious that some of your posts took a lot of time to write, just remember one thing: Just because you post a lot of text does not mean that your post is substantial. Please try to partake in conversations that are more related to Bitcoin and Altcoins in the future.'' (Sorry I don't know how to do the manual quote process)
-I guess I'll take the authors advice and read more, take a break for a short while, and starts over. -I was a kind of little nervous waiting for a "total shit poster" mark, but Thanks God it is above shitposter.(little---) Smiley

Round 4: Notes & Critique
kiemnhieutien: With the exception of just a few posts (and obviously the posts in bounties threads), your posts are unsubstantial. The couple of good posts you have, you instruct others about how to join bounties or earn money from the forums, which shouldn't be the sole purpose for joining the forums. If I'm going to be honest, I consider you to be a shit poster, simply because it's obvious that you have spent more time on the threads here designed to earn an income than the ones that are generally about Bitcoin/cryptocurrency overall. If you're serious about wanting to help improve the forums, I'm going to ask you to partake in more discussions related to the crypto industry, rather than just bounty threads and merit threads.
Thanks for your feedback sir, but Bounties is a official part of this forum. Teach other members about how to join bounties and earn money is a good act. Meta section is covered with threads about merit, it shows that there are still a lot of members have no knowledge about merit system, why don't i give them useful information about merit? Final, we have different thought, i quit round 5. Anyway , as i said before, your thread is a bright star in this forum, keep it loong live. Thanks!

Third Place: vlad230
vlad230 has donated his winnings ($5USD) to future rounds!3 Merits (sponsored by bill gator [$5 + 1 Merit] and Geraldo [2 Merits]) Meritorious Posts of the Week (in no particular order, and purely speculative, based on my opinion): vlad230: You have definitely spent a lot of time on the forums this week, and I applaud that! From offering your service of looking out for thoughtful members to suggesting new features for the forum, it's apparent that you've taken a genuine interest in the BCT forums. You've been very helpful this week, and I look forward to seeing more of your posts in the future. Thanks a lot for the kind words, Joe! I've started this review service to get a better feel on the merit system, what's going on in different categories and try to combat spam/shit posting. Whoever still has doubts on the merit system should definitely start a review service or at least check the post history of random users. You can't imagine the amount of spam and shit posting (regardless of rank) that occurs on the forums everyday! It's incredible, unfortunately... but I do see a change for the better since the merit system has been implemented.

Thank you so much. This is a huge encouragement and thank you Joe for providing this platform and your efforts specially towards writing critiques for each participant is amazing. Trust me this is very helpful in improving our posts. shahzadafzal: Good posts! It's obvious that English is not your first language, but you do a great job with portraying your message without any hinderances due to language barriers. It shows that you have done a good amount of research for many of your posts, which is a huge plus. You've chosen decent topics to post in, and I'm glad that there weren't any megathreads. I just wish that you would backup your statements just a bit more than posting examples or someone else's quotes. If you make a statement like "you should never trust banks", you should embellish your response with a bit more persuasion. Overall, great round,a nd I look forward to seeing what you produce in the future!
Well I was a bit sad and worried from 2nd round's comments i received straight away starting with Be careful with your speculative posting ... Then I revisited all my posts and tried to figure out where did i go wrong? You are right English is not my first language but I try my best to stay to the point and less grammatically mistakes. One question I did not understand this Winners, please post the links to your post(s) that you believe to be the most meritorious. If the merit sponsors agree, they will merit that/those post(s) to award you for winning this challenge. Post links to my posts? You mean in the same thread here?

I've merited this and this post. And with that, you're now disqualified for my consolation prizes, as you've just ranked up from Jr. Member to Member. Congratulations on ranking up with the merit system in place! I am slightly disappointed with your link to ponzi bitconnect though.

noticed that my posts are being deleted so i just don't see reason to spend time and resources. it doesn't really makes sense to participate. also big and heavy posts NEVER got me any merit (just like any others actually))) so im becoming passive reader. i hope the situation might change tho https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3253342.0 and ill be able to post without any concerns. of course i was thinking about manual submission, but i don't think you want to do it - will require some extra time and work

It sounds like you are too concerned with merit, if you ask me. Big heavy posts are not meant to be more likely to gain you merit. A post shouldn't be any longer than it needs to be in order to fully convey whatever idea you are attempting to get across. Brevity is important, because nobody wants to read a book. If your posts are being deleted at a significant rate, then I would think that you should change your posting habits. This should not discourage you from using the forum completely, unless you are not very interested in being a part of the community, which is fine. I would suggest you use the Search function more, because the thread you created has already been created and is actively being discussed. Stop posting in self-moderated threads, don't break the rules, or post in megathreads and you'll find that your posts don't get deleted very often. There might be a couple here and there, but it really doesn't matter and I don't understand why this is such a concern of yours. You talk about becoming a passive lurker, because you are not earning merit and it has become too much of a concern for you; I would suggest stop worrying about merit, because it honestly doesn't matter, if all you want to do is hangout and post.

It's strange to me that a company is willing to dish you out a portion of their marketing/advertising budget while you have a valid negative trust indicating that you have plagiarized posts. I would think this would be exactly the kind of thing that Joe would find disqualifying. Plus, I wouldn't expect to be around until the end of your project/campaign, because plagiarism is one of the very few things that can earn you a ban around here. You're also a hypocrite, because pretty recently you also had this to say : I understand that negative trust users are allowed in this challenge, but certainly a plagiarist should not be allowed. Not that it matters, because you would not place in the challenge. I just don't see a point in wasting anyone's time.
