If the project did not succeed then the coin of the project will not last for a long time. It will end up like nothing. Then if the dev will continue to develop the project he can use the coin again or do another coin.
I think some coins can die because of the developer that tend to trick us and fool many people. For some of us may already know that the price of some new Altcoins can go down and disappear because they become scam. They are also some legit Altcoin that become die and disappears not because of the system, but because of the price of the Altcoin it self that go very low and people become uninterested. So I think coins can die, but not in the true meaning. Maybe it become die and disappear from the market because of the price can go down very low that a lot of people will not see it anymore.

As an addition to all the members replies, here is a site that lists dead/hacked/scam/meme coins
http://deadcoins.com/

At some point, within the next year or two, the public will realize that not all altcoins will survive and only the old robust altcoins will go on. New coin projects will still be created but it won't attract attention unless it has some revolutionary features. By that time, the public will be like: another day... another altcoin

The most important thing for a coin is to get involved in different stock exchanges. There are a lot of coins now and many will disappear.

For me nobody knows how and when or it will disappear because if there's still trading and to be trades it will last due to coins involving on it.

If you say in general about the crypto-currency world, then I do not believe in it. If we are talking about individual monotonies - then of course they die, if the project itself failed. They depreciate and remain in their owners' wallets, like garbage

Of course there will be many. If the coin does not bear any value and usefulness to society , it fast loses its relevance and forget about it

If the coin is abandoned by its developers or there are no servers running the blockchain anymore then the coin doesn't exist. Even if there are no people supporting it, the coin will continue to exist as long as there are the servers online or the bugs of the program make the system collapse. The servers actually are the heart of the coin system and the program is the heartbeat. Some coins of today have no a developers team anymore but yet they still exist.
What does happen to people who have already invested in these non-existent coins?

Does a coin or coins also die or disappears? How will it happen?

Yes, it will really happen. If one coin has no value because developers already gave them up, it will eventually dissapear. Likewise, when no one is making that coin active through trading and buying and selling, it will die soon.

This happens when developers cease to work or just run away with money, then the coin simply falls with each passing day and dies

An altcoin disappears when no longer trading anymore. When all the trader does not care and do not invest in it anymore, then that Altcoin will know it. It does not disappear, but its value decreases and its value is near zero.

If there is no update from the team, It could be considered dead. I have read a news that over 50 percent of tokens from initial coin offering disappeared. Same thing could happen to Alts, I see lots of coins being erased from exchanges. Some of them have no updates on it's Github for couple months

If there is no demand to the coin and that will make the coin will be disappeared from the cryptospace. Look at so many coins in the yobit and the majority of them have zero volume trade. It can be included as died coins. There are so many examples too about that.

Coins can also go off the market, but during this time when the Asian side join the community are supporting it's kinda rare to see  a coin just disappear from the market, ofc it's not impossible tho

Yes the crypto community already witnessed vanishing of coins, Actually there are many bad devs who just create coins or tokens just to scam innocent people.

If those altcoins will never be productive or useless anymore then the members of the crypto that uses it will no longer patronize this kind of altcoins then, there is possibility that it will die or vanished in this digital world of cryptocurrency.

When no one is supporting it you can consider it dead, a coin and project keeps progressing because of the people that's supporting it and the people from the main team project but if no one is supporting or patronizing it a coin will slowly gonna goes down without it's fuel how does a project keep moving.

It will not literally disappear, but technically it will be "dead" or "useless" meaning it might be unlisted on exchanges websites because it has no value anymore. It will happen if Devs abandoned the project already and no one is doing maintenance check on the server anymore and has no more supporters.

As long as a coin is a) mined and b) on an exchange, it can never die. And there are lots of exchanges that list obscure coins simply because traders and pumper dumpers like them.

of course, any coin which is having no strength in their project it will disappear. I think most of the coins will be disappear with in 2 years. Only strong coins and having good scope in their project will stand forever. Better before invest do research.
