I did that in august. The full number of confirmations was required for the coins to be used/sold. Depending on the amount of transaction fee you've added to your transfer, it can take a few hours.

search your transaction on http://blockchain.info and see if it has 6 confirmations. Mtgox requires 6 if I remember correctly.

if its not on blockchain.info then its not on the network.... if your using bitcoin wallet for desktop make sure its connected and fully synced to the network until this happens your not going to get anywhere...
also if your mining it is strongly recommended you dont use MT.gox as a payout address as the address changes and can lead to you loosing coins
if you can provide a wallet address you sent it from then there should be some trace of it somewhere

DO NOT SEND BITCOINS TO MTGOX. THEY ARE BANKRUPT and you will NOT get any money out in any reasonable time

There's been a lot of problems with MTGox due to their bankruptcy as the guy above me has said but they've generally not had good things said about them, I've heard good things about Bitstamp though but I haven't tried it myself, I will when I get enough coins worth selling.

wtf, when did this happen?
Awhile ago, all kinds of shit was happening with MT.GOX, they had fund seized in the millions by the U.S Government, it's generally best to avoid doing business with companies that are based in America unless they've been able to stay out of trouble.

Firstly, not many people here probably use mtgox. The only real advantage they have is being non-russian and they usually have higher sell prices. If you do use them, it takes a while (few days). Otherwise, use something else such as cambx.

Make sure you arer fully verified on MtGox also, or you wont be able to withdraw btc or fiat there. Thats another 2 week process.

The part of buying or selling is fine. The difficult part is withdrawing the fiat money from Mtgox. You first need to verify your identity (and wait for weeks). Then, you can TRY to withdraw fiat money (and wait for weeks more) . If you send them a support ticket concerning that, they will reply you with some useless answer (withdrawal takes time, please wait patiently, blah blah blah). IMO, stay away from Mtgox if you can
