no - original fans, without any modifications, top cover on (default "from the box" setup)

So ridiculous, if i put the top cover on i would get temperatures beyond 75°....

that's very strange

I'm sure you did it already but repetita iuvant, have you checked that all fans are working correctly (both front and internal)?
Otherwise I think that some HW problem would be the most probable explanation.

Been running almost nonstop since Monday afternoon (gmt-8) on the firmware mine shipped with, 0.91.

Hesitant to update since people are so hit-and-miss with them.

I felt the caps that were blowing on other peoples' units with the back of my finger, after running the rig for a few hours, and none of them were getting hot -- indicates not much voltage/current ripple. Maybe faulty voltage regulators are putting unexpected stress on those caps?

Also, I did just notice that -Redacted- is running at diff 128. Would that have any effect on hashing speed? I would assume not, but i don't understand the concept of 'difficulty' very well.

Splitting the output to 2 different pools.  If that was going all to one pool, stratum protocol would have it set to 256 also.  That wasn't done to get it to work any better, this Jupiter is part of two different group buys is why it's split.  

Increased share difficulty might cause you to see some greater variance in pool hashrate estimates, but won't affect your rewards or the miners calculation any - it's the miner that is doing the discarding of hashes that are too low, and it keeps track.  The cgminer calculation is what is correct, the longer average more so than the 5 second average - that will vary up and down.  Really gets kicked down when there's a flushwork (which doesn't seem to work properly).

Edit:  I can't give you the temps because I haven't upgraded anything and the version running doesn't show them...

I think the heatsink installations are hit and miss. That is a real pain to trouble shoot since you will have to really take it down for a bit to redo all that.

But us having our big fans laying on the heatsinks might give it a little better contact



my miners are impressing me so far running .93
one is staying strong 520-530 avg
and the other had one restart last night when it dipped to 430 and climbed back up over 500.
Now it is down to 470

My speeds are from the pool, not cgminer.

Just installed the firmware mod for .93 and very interestingly one of my modules has 8 VRMs and the other three have 4 VRMs.  My other jupiter, all modules have 4 VRMs

They show all active and overall runs cooler...

I received mine yesterday and it has been up and running on 0.94 for about 12 hours.  My unit is pulling a lot of wattage - 900 from the wall using a 1000w platinum power supply. 

KNC support just emailed me back saying that 440 ghash (what 50btc reports),  900 watts from the wall, and chip temps of 65-72c in a 58F room are 'within spec'...Not awesome.

Below is a copy/paste of their reply to my email.  I had also inquired about the flashing process taking only 3 seconds, and then the web interface continuing to report firmware 0.94 after downgrading to 0.93 and 0.91:

The performance that you have noted below is within spec. We are also continuously working on firmware updates to improve the performance, stability and power consumption. Please keep an eye on our website support page for new releases of patches and firmware updates.

The speed of the flashing process you have mentioned is normal, however the web interface caching can cause the pages to display old information until refreshed.

If you have any further questions or doubts please do not hesitate in contacting us.

yes hit cntr-r to refresh and best to bookmark just the IP of the miner and not any of the pages or you can get weird hangups on the browser looking for things not there anymore after a downgrade

So that whole youtube video with the sheets of paper saying how we were GOING to ALL get 500ghs miners was total bullshit? KFC miner is starting to stick...

I guess legally at the time of sale Jupiter was sold as 350-400ghs miner but I STILL do not have a STABLE 400ghs or even stable 350ghs machine, 100ghs swings are not acceptable, having to point house fans at my miner with the top off to keep it running on any firmware is NOT what we paid for. Also a company promising you the paying customer a 500ghs on video is kinda a contract in my eyes LIVE UP TO IT!

Can you imagine another company selling ovens or something and saying "hey we're sorry about the 100 degree swings and burnt food but hey the oven does get to 400 degrees right!?! Sorry no warranty because it does cook right?!..."

yeah, I guess I never bought into the 'plug n play' mentality though.

they were looking to make these rackable for data centers, etc...  but if they made the modules separate like jallys and then let you plug them into a control board the cooling could be way easier.

I might even make them separate cases myself with the unused case sheet metal as trial material

but of course while I am hashing like a fool, I will leave all my fans blowing and never turn anything off for months

Sounds like nonsense, many people are reporting average 500GH/s performance in this thread. Remember block/share discovery has a random component, it has to be averaged over time, and pool hash rates can be all over the place. If you think your unit is faulty, send it back under warranty.
