I guess legally at the time of sale Jupiter was sold as 350-400ghs miner but I STILL do not have a STABLE 400ghs or even stable 350ghs machine, 100ghs swings are not acceptable, having to point house fans at my miner with the top off to keep it running on any firmware is NOT what we paid for. Also a company promising you the paying customer a 500ghs on video is kinda a contract in my eyes LIVE UP TO IT!
Stable 350ghs is too small, eighter you have high room temp or one chip is faulty.

DPoS I'm really glad for you. Did you modify the airflow the same way Sitarow did? (remove the lid, add a fun over the box that push down air). One last question Did you checked your ASICs slot status using this: http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/main-forum/6183-bertmod-0-2-unofficial-firmware-mod-feedback-thread? it's not a real firmware update, infact you do not have to reboot your miner after applying those update. it simply uses the firmware upload interface to modify the cgi script that generate interface web pages. if you're curious you can inspect the file that actually is a tar.gz despite the fact its extension is .bin to make a long story short it use cgminer remote api, i2c-get command, a little bit of perl and a little of reverse engineering to get a more datailed information about your miner. using this thing I've discovered that every single KnC ASIC chip is compsed by four die and each die has 48 cores. another thing I've discoverd it that one of my jup has a die with all 48 cores disabled and infact it's the one with the lower temp.

since I went back to .93 I did install the mod firmware on top of one that was dipping in hashrate and it is nice to view. It also pointed out that one of my boards has 8 VRMs while the other 3 have 4 (the other miner has all four boards with 4 VRMs) The dipping miner does restart cgminer from time to time but that helps it keep the same rate as the other that hasn't restarted cgminer since I put .93 on it. It used to only hash in the low 400's I'll post pics of my airflow hackjobs.. they are a mess, but you don't mine with style points

First pic shows a simpler airflow mod on the second miner by putting the fan down a little in the front at an angle blowing towards the back (but not resting on all heatsinks) Also, added a small USB fan you cant see that is opposite the box shroud. It helps push air that can get caught up front Eagle eyes can see the back right board is the odd 8 VRM one I got, and since that board runs 10c cooler than others, it is probably why I can do less modding for good tempsSecond pic shows the other miner and was my first design. This one was hashing terribly from the start and ran a bit hotter than the other one so I used a small window fan on the far side to blow crosswind through. Also rested the big fan on top of all 4 heatsinks. Here you can see the small USB fan that I also have in the other miner do the same duty. The cardboard here helped keep the cool air towards the heat. You do not want to cover any heat. oh, about those style points... here's that Hale 850W PSU by NZXT powering the second miner. (first has a EVGA 1000W in a PC) mod at your own pace and risk

LOL DPoS I think all of our machines look the same right now tops off and a walt-mart special fan propped right where you have it.
You know all I'm asking of KNC is that they help those of us who do not have 500ghs+ stable machines. Just saying you are in spec GOODBYE! is not cool it's not good business. There are a lot of mining company's out right now and coming out. If I come back to KNC it's going to be because I know I'm going to be taken care of and I'm not playing a game of chance ordering from them.

yeah I figured they would say that which is why I just dove in and did what I could. Lower the temps and tried each firmware until I got good results
I know Sitarow is cooking up a new design (replacing the front intake fans and try the cover again) and I would love to break these up and make each module their own units and just connect them to the mainboard.
But of course I aint touching anything for as long as they run stable over 500
I wonder if KNC will make the Mercury like I am thinking all their stuff should be?

270gh/s Saturn. 0.93 seems to give me the most stable result so far. 50c for both boards when I upgraded to 0.94 with no cooling mods. CGRemote is reporting wrong values for shares and current hashrate for the KNC though.

you are proving what I initially thought. That the Saturns were a safer bet on being stable (power/heat) and that is what I bought at first. But then I upgraded both to Jupiters when they said it wouldnt affect my place in the queue here's a good chart showing early sub 500 hashing and how it has been stable since modding airflow and using .93 firmware

Question for Sitarow
When you change the front fans and put the case back on, what about cutting some venting on the sides where the fins point out?? Then also blocking it off so that heat can't go to the back?
Probably angle the front ones 45 degrees too if possible

I have extracted from bertmod (thanks for your work dude very well done) the perl script that test for ASIC cores/consumption. And I've discovered that each jups of mine has an ASIC chip with a die completely disabled: Die ID Cores ON Cores OFF % 0 48 0 100 1 0 48 0 2 47 1 97.9 3 48 0 100
Temperature sensor: 36.0 C
Die ID Cores ON Cores OFF % 0 48 0 100 1 0 48 0 2 48 0 100 3 48 0 100
both are marked as ASIC board 4. I'm running with stock configuration (no extra fan, no lid removed etc) with fw 0.94. tomorrow I will be at the colo and I'll do a few experiments. firstly I just want to remove the lid and try to find a fun to punt on top. something like this: i'll report back if the better airflow will resurrect the dead die

what we can do? which firmware you have? when i install 0.94 firmware is total dead the chip when install 0.91 work at 75% which firmware you have?
