What if people convince governments of their nations to make Bitcoin as a legal currency or what if we agree to give tax on our bitcoin income? Will government then make Bitcoin a legal currency.
Even we talk directly to the president of a country, the decision would not be on his/her own, it must be the whole countries decision. And besides, even if they completely legalize bitcoin but then people didnt fully understand what is bitcoin then it will still be a problem. So it must start in the lower part of the society which is the people going up to the higher part which is the government officials.

is it possible that the government wants to negotiate with bitcoins? I think the government still will not legalize bitcoin as currency. because no matter where in a country is already in use the legitimate currency that was in use long ago.

I think it's irrelevant to consider btc as a currency at it's current state. It's more of an asset. And not all governments have the same thought about btc. Those that aren't in favor of it right now like china have reasons beyond taxing it.

Mate, it's already a currency although its not a fiat but a crypto. And I truly agree with your opinion with the governments decisions.
BITCOIN and the other cryptos  won't be named as a LEGAL AND ILLEGAL type of currency for which they are in an anonymous transactions. The fact that the fiat transactions are well known to each people whose been using it and making their trades in every way they want then thats the time we can call it legal or either illegal.
Even if there are so many users of crypto around the world we cant still deny that the existence of it will also be gone.

Different governments have different reasons for banning bitcoins and it is not only due to tax collection:

1) In my country, government has not made bitcoins legal yet because they consider it as a spam. There had been a lot of similar scams here like chit fund companies and online ponzi schemes that ran away with money of thousands of investors. They do not want to get this repeated.

2) Some of the governments are worried that it might replace their current currency.

For someone to convince the government to legalize bitcoin in a country is difficult.
the first government can not be convinced because he is in full control. Even if people do massive demonstrations the government is not easy to take decisions on the grounds that bitcoin is considered detrimental to local currency that can damage the financial system. For example people prefer to use bitcoin so that cash transactions at local banks will go down. As a result banks can go bankrupt and again money laundering issues.
Of course the government will assess its own advantages and disadvantages.

For people to agree you would need a nationwide referendum and the majority would say no as only a small percentage of the population are into crypto. This will change in the coming years and bitcoin will have to be more widely accepted.

Government will not make it a legal currency but it will remain running because many people are already into this cryptocurrency thing and the government can't do anything to stop and some other countries already developed and advertising cryptocurrency.

The issue of money is a special kind of power, usually attributed to central Banks.

There are many advantages to this kind of power, which can be controlled by the monetary system.

Because the four basic core principles of bitcoin (neutrality, openness, trust, decentralization) are not destined to become national fiat currencies.

Governments don't want our permission if they want to implement taxes on the bitcoin income,if they want they do.Still many countries don't want to legalize bitcoin because they are scared that their country currency will replaced by bitcoin and they will face economical crisis.

Isn’t that generally the idea we are trying to work with, we are all trying to advertise and further thecause of bitcoin on a micro level as best as we can. Hoping that this would then transfer to the macro level where the government would then take notice and from there be able to have a dialogue with the government on what we want/need or would wish to have bitcoin or the whole of the cruptocurrency market for us to be able to have a much more legalized and regulated bitcoin transactions

Over time, there is a forest that Bitcoin will become less relevant due to the Flight into some other more promising currency. Of course everything does not go to another currency, but the risk of losing relevance always exists

People still don't get the idea.
You don't really need secretive entities like the government to tell you how to use Bitcoin.  What if someone invents a way to pay for good and services with oxygen? Would you still need permission to use it?  By the way no government will accept Bitcoin without trying to regulating it. Asking government to regulate Crypto is like asking Robbers to regulate the police.

Brother I don't think you need permission to use a piece of code not owned by governments as long as it is used responsibly.
Mother nature (or whatever it is) probably fighting  the current artificial limitations created by the ruthless "ones"  or offering us a way of escape... many don't get it yet but we will eventually.

Two things certain in life, death and taxes. Government regulations will put to rest the arguments of most skeptics that cryptocurrency is a scam.

Not all governement can do that because they believed that it is a threat to sovereignty, control of the domestic money supply, borrowing, inflation, foreign exchange or fiduciary institutions. they need enough time to study well and research for better understanding and what is the role of bitcoin in the future.

If a group of people who are involved with the crypto domain are serious about legalizing crypto in their Country, many ways exist. One would be passing a petition to the Courts, which is addressed to the Law makers, like Congress and the Senate. This petition would indicate several reasons that ascertain the benefits that not only a single person could gain from it but also the Government and the nation as a whole, and one of which is tax. It could contain the depth explanation of how it could influence some of the red statistics in a particular country, taking and bringing this numbers into the green zone of statistics, for example employment rates, poverty, technological literacy and many more. If the Governments and units involved with the legalization fail to see the reasons, and benefits, then perhaps most of the posts for this topic are true, about politicians and governments.

Although many negotiations have been made with some governments by bitcoin developers in their respective countries the bitcoin cannot be legalized because if bitcoin is legalized then bitcoin will no longer be decentralized so bitcoin will be controlled by the countries that legalize it. Bitcoin cannot also be used as currency because bitcoin is a digital asset instead of a currency. I am more comfortable with bitcoin conditions like this because I can be free of taxes applied by the government.

Community and bitcoin developers in my country have made several negotiations with the government but still, have not produced anything or a favorable solution for bitcoin users in my country. The government still prohibits its people to make various transactions using bitcoin because the transaction is not recognized by the government. But, until now the bitcoin users in my country are still comfortable with the ban so they are free from the tax payments from the transaction they do with bitcoin including me personally really enjoy this condition.

I think it will take many studies in order to make bitcoin be legal because bitcoin has many things that government need to consider, it has no security and there is no registration to the government so its still not safe to the government to take also it can be use in illegal activity how can the government do that they"re the one who make the terrorist or drug lords easy transaction, but if bitcoin will pass the requirements need by the country then maybe they will consider it.

Hi,

I love this topic!

How do you "convince" a government exactly? If you have a way to make your voice be heard by responsibles, I am ready to learn about it! Otherwise... well, you are just one citizen amongst thousands... And you will not be heard.

Then, some governments are pretending that the problem wit bitcoin is about taxes. And volatility. But this is not a real problem. Taxation concerns what you earn and the  money that fall into your account. So actually, bitcoin can be submitted to taxation, if you turn your earning to dollars/euros/etc and put on your account.

The problem for governments is that bitcoin represents a threat. It is a currency they can no longer control or manipulate. Due to the blockchain, transparency is made true. Just because anyone willing to spend time on that can track any operation that has ever occurred. They are not ready for that!

I think it is very difficult for the government to make bitcoin legal tender for its own sake. First, bitcoin cannot be controlled by its own government. If bitcoin is accepted, it will affect its economic development and harm the government's interests.
