I am filing scam accusations against khal. I have ordered and paid for the registration of lovric.bit at their Web site – www.dot-bit.org – and have received no response – even after contacting them via e-mail – for almost 3 weeks now.

This is the order payment instructions e-mail:

Hello,
Your request has been recorded for the domain lovric.bit

Send 0.1BTC to 15oBUScgjuQqUGyVmCzJ1muNTcCMBx2io3 to finish the registration.

Once registered (a manual process), you'll receive instructions to access the domain panel.

Best Regards,
Khalahan

I almost-immediately transferred 0.1 Bitcoins (BTC) to 15oBUScgjuQqUGyVmCzJ1muNTcCMBx2io3 in transaction e870266c0e30e174267c8924f07fe1831e7ba2818c756efba2e117410c6aa28e.

After no reaction for 9 days, I tried contacting them via e-mail:

Sorry to hear about it. Can't you get .bit domains for $1, though?

You don't need a registar for namecoin domains. In fact, it is the best idea to not use a registar, because the domain belongs to them instead of you and there is no regulatory agency to keep their behavior in check.

Download namecoin-qt or namecoind and follow instructions to register namecoin domains yourself - for 0.01 NMC.

and there is no regulatory agency to keep their behavior in check.

(Lately, it's the regulatory agencies that are seizing domains.)

0.01 NMC.

That's actually cheaper than I thought it was via namecoin-qt. Damn.

the domain belongs to them instead of you

So, these domains cannot be transferred into the ownership of another secret key?

My present knowledge of Namecoin is limited to the terms "Bitcoin-based" and "decentralized".

Download namecoin-qt or namecoind and follow instructions to register namecoin domains yourself - for 0.01 NMC.

I won't be able to do so until I set up my system.

They should be added to the known scammers list.

In my case, I've received no response for almost 3 months after payment. They're logging into Bitcointalk; therefore, they're not in a hospital, in prison, their workstation is not dead, or wherever, so they should be able to – at least – respond.

I have received the refund and have updated my trust feedback on khal to positive as it is not possible to provide neutral trust feedback.
