im using risers, as long as they are shorted and have the correct latency you should be good to go!

He's asking what problem did changing the latency solve? Using 1x slots without a jumper?

Why not use the GD65 and save ~$40?  Then use the x1 to x16 cables
I ask since I'm about to do exactly this.

The 65 is way more stable, but I've found that it does NOT like the extra pcie on the mobo plugged in and set a pci latency of 64. Plus i never had to short any pins on them.

Fyi. my buyer of my 11 machines just fell through so if anyone wants any 6 card 5830 riggs I'm in SoCal. 7x GD64's, 4x GD70's

I'll let em go for $1050

Just answer this. It is possible to use this board without shorting any pins and if so, what combination of extenders do you need to buy?
hmm it's been answered twice already, but i guess reading comprehension is lacking. just buy 5 pci-e x16 extension cables, and 1 pci-e x1 extension cable, plug them in the appropriate slots, and you'll be good to go without having to short any pins.

WHa tabout the power load?

I Think of getting extension cables with power slice - or can the boardhandle the load of 6x75 watt drawm from the motherboard?

Because the adapters and racks to put the cards on will cost more than the saved $40.
