There is still a lot of work to be done before we can launch Midas but rest assured this is a priority project for us. Once Midas is up and running we will be able to offer the trading of other digital currencies.

LTC and NMC.

Besides, PPC, FTC and XPM are also in a shout. They maybe added in the second round.

XRP and SLL are also potential candidates.

LTC for sure as they've said so, then the other main contenders are PPC, XPM and NMC.  Those are the only others that offer any major innovation as far as I'm aware.  Who knows they might become a ripple gateway too and add XRP options.

I do...

My reasoning: They are looking for money and partners - they won't find them in Bitcoinland easily any more (see coinbase), so they need to support other (established: SLL, new: XRP) markets with strong partner support.

They have't said anything about adding nmc, yes you can see some screenshots, but they only have mentioned LTC. In none of their releases they mentioned nmc. So i'm sure they will add only one crypto which is ltc and nmc might be added in the future but not along with ltc

I don't see how it matters, gox is fading into irrelevancy at best

LTC and NMC no question. Beyond those though, my vote (and money) would be on Primecoin/XPM and possibly Peercoin/PPC.

I think they should really add YACoin because it has all the technical innovations of NovaCoin without the suspicious pre-mine, and it does the best job of making sure it's only mined by CPU. It seems to be distributed very well.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there.

Please stop. Gox had their chance/shot and they failed. Move on.

Generally speaking I agree, but Gox is still a major player.
My guess is LTC and NMC.

What is SLL ?

Second Life Linden dollars, a centralized digital currency, freely convertible with fiat (especially on the exchange VirWoX), and used in the virtual-reality game Second Life.

The posters who said LTC and NMC will be the likeliest altcoins offered for trade at Mt Gox are right IMO.
