Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

OP you should make this a poll. Could be really interesting. These could be the choices: - online exchange
- personal exchange
- mining
- faucet
- loan
- friend

Somebody offered me one as payment. I initially didn't take it. But then I decided I wanted it so I came back later. And he was nice enough to still do the deal, even though the BTC price had gone somewhat upward

Well, early adopter issues I guess...

read about it in an online magazine 2011 about mtgox. i took some cash and sent it to tokyo. had no clue, had no one to talk about it, didn´t know this forum. got 100 btc just before bubble. after 2011 bubble and mtgox got hacked i couldn´t access my account anymore and thought this was a scam and i was stupid enough to throw money in. i erased everything, forgot all about it. turned into a believer when in march this year someone told me he quit his job and makes a living through mining bitcoin. bitcoin ?? that japanese scam ? he showed me the price. my 100 btc had almost 10 folded. dammned, i had erased everything. mtgox customer service sorted it within 20 min.
