Finally after the WaveCrest ban, all the fuzzy updates and ICOs promising things (1, 2, 3), a debit card provider finally comes out with a working card that lets you load and spend Bitcoin.

Wirex has just announced the coming of the following in March 2018:

    New updated currency accounts with the ability to buy Bitcoin;
Virtual cards – immediately according to the timeline,

Next milestones:

Plastic contactless Bitcoin cards – within the next 4-5 weeks (by the end of April basically)
Wallets for Dash & litecoin, then – Ether, Ripple and more.
    Worldwide debit cards

The timeline of user registration is the following:

March 12-17:

UK waiting list users. This is the time to get your bitcoin debit card for UK – sign up here to get it

March 20-24:

Accounts open for France, Italy, Germany. This will let everyone from these countries spend Bitcoin with a debit card.

March 26-31:

Accounts open for the rest of the EU: Romania, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Portugal, Greece, Croatia, Poland, Bulgaria, Republic of Cyprus, Norway and more.

Releasing a financial product is a responsible and complicated task where many things can go wrong.

Looks like Wirex is being cautious with its’ users, hence the conservative release timeline.

But the best part is – looks like they got everything already works and only in 2 days UK users will be able to spend their Bitcoin using virtual cards, and 1 month later – physical ATM cards.

P.S. Make sure you sign up to Wirex to get alerted when your turn for a prepaid Bitcoin card comes.

This can be good news after we heard of many service providers cancelled their involvement in the world of cryptocurrency. We might find a good replacement of those finance institutions who got threatened by cryptocurrency so they closed their doors...maybe later those banks will eventually be coming back here in cryptocurrency and we should be the one closing the doors for them.

Bitcoin debit cards have been on thin ice for a while now.  It's nice to see a company finally come out with a working card again, but the situation will only be entirely resolved once all of the major companies producing these are back in the game.

With only a fairly small number of merchants continuing to accept Bitcoin at this point, it's important for people to have quick conversion between Bitcoin and fiat.

Hopefully though, people don't keep all of their funds with these centralised services.  Spending fiat from your debit card and using a centralised service completely defeats the point of Bitcoin if you do it with all of your money.

It seems to me that it is too early to trust your money to such projects. This could end badly. I do not see any prospects for such projects at the moment. Banks against the use of cryptocurrencies. They will always look for a reason to block the use of such cards. The fee for the use of such cards is also very high. It is easier to change bitcoin on the stock exchange and use a Visa.

All I see among all the warning signs & red flags is a click-bait post by a noob account specifically set up to promote wirex or scam, or both.  Either wirex are creating fake accounts here in an effort to promote themselves because they're desperate & are going to scam, or this is a scammer account with dodgy links for suckers to click on & get scammed.

Either way, don't believe everything you read peeps & don't click on links posted by noob accounts.

Maybe in future will available for CIS.
Abbreviation "CIS" isn't known for most people in the West, therefore better say Russia or ex-USSR.

There is similar project called "NAGA". They have their own debit card which you can fund with various cryprocurrencies - BTC, ETH, BCH, Dash...etc...

I just checked their website and it looks good. This is just for information for those who are interested in various types of crypto debit cards. So no promotion or whatsoever..
