I propose that the Bitcoin testnet abbreviation be "BT3" or "Bitcoin Testnet Three". The reason is that the current Testnet version is version 3, which will help identifying it from older testnets and in the case that testnet is reset to version 4. (Version 3 would continue to exist however).

more or less retired.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Well, I liked CRC, and my previous suggestion was BTC0 (for "zero" value) but BT3 makes sense, since there may well be a BT4, especially if BT3 gains value.

I thought when they reset testnet, the coins were no longer valid?  There's more than 1 active testnet?

& the coins should not have any value whatsoever.  This is why they keep resetting it.

Sorry to bump, but was anything ever 'officially' decided about this? We would very much like to refer to testnet coin as something other than "BTC" in our wallet. BT3 seems like a good choice.
