Hey everyone, there is a new version of the NodeCore suite (v0.1.2), here's the changelist:

Code:
== Change log 0.1.2 ==

*NodeCore*
• Peer to peer network protocol overhauled (Breaking change)
• TLS support on Admin RPC
• RPC Password option
• Added robustness to mining pool operation (Breaking change)
• Backup wallet RPC endpoint added
• Fixed a case in which Bitcoin blockchain view was not rolled back when forked
• Introduced support for multiple networks

*CLI*
• Removed "peer" commands
• Backup wallet command
• Added support for TLS
• Added support for password

*PoW*
• ExtraNonce support added

*PoP*
• Compatibility updates with Bitcoin 0.16.0
• Added support for SegWit transactions

You can download it from here: https://github.com/VeriBlock/nodecore-releases/releases/tag/v0.1.2

The new version has significant modifications to the way the P2P protocol works, so you will need to update to this new version to stay in sync with the network. Thanks everyone!

Our team is also updating the stats server, so the dashboard may show erroneous or old data during the next half hour, while the new data is ingested into the backend.
The backend is fully updated.

Note that this is still testnet software Smiley

updated to NodeCore suite (v0.1.2) and everything is working fine.

On Testnet i'm mining with a budget CPU, so I have a very low hashrate of 0.12 MH/s.

I see the Testnet's network hashrate is already at 13MH/s, how is that possible with Veriblock only allowing CPU-mining on testnet?

Hmm Interesting, it seems I forked I was at almost 19k blocks on my end and i restarted and went to 17000 lmk if you need a log.

Security looks very vulnerable by itself because can be easily forked even by a tiny hash power.

Thanks for checking us out!

How many coins can be mined? Shocked

We haven't finalized on the exact economics of the blockchain yet, but we'll let everyone know soon Smiley

We are still testing and improving our software prior to launch (optimized mining software and many usability-focused improvements). We do not currently have a target date for mainnet release, but we're very excited to get mainnet lit too Smiley

An 8700k is probably somewhere around 1.4+ MH/s, I don't have a Ryzen CPU to test on.

Also: Myself and the rest of the dev team are more active on Telegram than on Bitcointalk, and new developments/pre-release software are announced there first: http://t.me/veriblock

You should definitely add a discord channel, way easier to interact and keep everyone updated with announcements.

How is this different from what Komodo is already doing? It looks like dPoW, just with a new name?

Same question... the komodo guys have been providing btc level security for their chain and the asset chains they secure for over a year now. Tell me how is your concept revolutionary?

Interesting insight in this Token Fest video - looks like Veriblock scheduled to use Vorksholk's CureCoin for their initial use-case - that's great news. Any ETA on GA and integration of CURE (assuming this is the awaited next-gen version of CureCoin).

https://youtu.be/uAuEX99dTGA see 04:25 for the CureCoin use-case introduction.

Thanks for your interest in the project!

dPoW is a delegated system where a small group of publicly-known "notarization nodes" are entrusted with stamping data to Bitcoin. In addition, the creation of blocks is effectively nearly completely centralized to these dPoW miners as well, similar to dPoS systems from a censorship and centralization perspective.

Proof-of-Proof is the first consensus protocol to enable inheriting the full Proof-of-Work security of another blockchain which adheres to the original ethos of Bitcoin: decentralization, trustlessness, transparency, and permissionlessness.  Anyone can freely join or leave the PoP mining process, and there is no known group of PoP miners who can collude or be coerced/compromised.

Hey everone, a very exciting message from the VeriBlock team:

Hello everyone! Thanks for your support and interest in the project. It's the end of Q2, and we have a very exciting announcement to make.

We will reset TestNet in 12 days, on Wednesday, July 11 at 10am EST.
This will start a "Mining Sunrise" period that will last until the official MainNet launch.

1. During this "Mining Sunrise" period - from the TestNet reset and until MainNet launch - the address and balance for any non-zero balance on TestNet will be carried over to MainNet. This will work for NodeCore version 0.2 and greater (current release is 0.1.7 - so when 0.2 is released on July 12 you'll want to upgrade to that). Therefore mining will be essentially live on TestNet during this period, and after this period mining will be live on MainNet.

2. To engage our community, we will start a bounty program, with rewards given in VBK coins. Details of the bounty program will be released shortly.

3. A UI wallet will be released.

The purpose of this reset and honoring mining and bounties is to further engage the community before the final MainNet launch. Therefore to include CPU miners, the GPU miner will still be throttled. While initially GPU mining will be throttled, we encourage CPU miners to seek a pool. At some point in the near future, an unthrottled GPU miner will be released.

MainNet will be lauched some weeks after the TestNet reset. Like other blockchains, MainNet will run side-by-side with TestNet. Addresses and balances will be transferred from TestNet to MainNet, TestNet will be reset and relegated to purely a TestNet network. This will end the "Mining Sunrise" period.

Upon MainNet launch, code will be open-sourced.

Get your miners and wallets ready!

Thank you,
Justin and Max
