Start with trading on the most common exchanges then move to the more advanced exchanges. The fewer exchanges a token is listed on will give you a better return in the long run as it gets listed on bigger exchanges if:

1. The team is solid
2. The product is working
3. The token has a large and growing following on twitter, reddit, facebook, etc...
4. Active github repositories/issues being addressed and the code is amazing and not just a scam
5. The idea has not been done before and is revolutionary
6. You would use the product yourself in the future
7. The product is undervalued for the marketcap

Just a few thoughts on trading and some of the criteria I use. Every trader is different and there are more fundamentals I look at. This is my basic list.

Why dont do both this things? Get some tokens in ICO, wait when it will be listed somewhere and start to traid. If you are good in it. If not, stay away cause you can loose your money

It is possible to trade and to join the ICO. Nobody prevents you to do two things. Especially get a good experience. I do that every day.

choose ICO project that you want to join wisely and learn how to be good in trading. all of it need some experience and you only can believe in yourself. it is better than only ask people and you not learn anything.

I would say, why not try both?

the most easy is trading of course, u just select a good crypto project you believe in, find the exchange, define your entry price, and buy!

for ICO, it may take much more time, you again need to do much deeper research, get in the white list and then wait for the sale day, be careful of scammers, wait for your token to get released for you or the exchange!

icos are a good way to buy cheap altcoins in the beginning. however there is a risk to loose money because sometimes they are listed on exchanges cheaper than ico price. if you are sure about the project, joining in ico stage is good but if not better to wait for listing on exchanges.

They are two different animals, but one thing is key, you really need to fill yourself with knowledge and have the right strategy to actually be able to succeed in those fields. For ICO investment, it's important that you have a knack for looking behind the garbage and checking those projects that could have better chances of success, since there are so many going out, it's normal that you should be able to determine which ones are good and which ones are bad. For trading, you need to have a wide collection of coins in your stash, and also, you need to check the market closely so that you would not end up doing bad trades. Both has their own pros and cons, and it's up to you to decide whether you can be able to handle them.

Trade is quite a nervous occupation, I do not advise you to do this. It is best to invest in ICO, here from you requires only a calm analysis and patience.

Both of them are you are not sure if your going to have profit or not, also both of them are not easy work in crypto and have a risk. In the trading its need your most of your time to work it because you need to watch the movement of the market and there's possible you might be bankrupt if you dont know how to do it properly. While in ICO the needed here to to joined them then invest, so we all know investment is there's a risky to take, you can lose all your money if your participated in a scam ICO. But both of them are gives you a lot of profit when you have knowledge in proper trading and you was joined in a good ICO.

I suggest you if you just know the world of crypto, choose an investment in ICO. and choose a good project. if you want to trade I think more learn and see the market price. because I experienced myself how to lose because of my panic. basically I suggest you to invest in ICO only

As for trading you can always look at history and base your trading on that. If something is down 80% then you know that there is potential to have 80% up again to new all time high. But that is risky too so you pretty much need to find your own way

I think both are good, whether it's an investment on ICO or on trading. it's just that usually the purchase on ICO requires a minimum purchase, so it needs big funds.

Trading is the one to earn immediately and it need you all of your time to do it while ICO its need here is your patience because you need to wait a year before you can get your profit. Both in terms of profit joining ICO is much profitable but when your in a good ICO, also both of them have risk to take but the higher risk is in the ICO.

I think if you ask questions like this you should stay away of trading.
Start reading the forum. Pick some coins and invest a little. In a year or so you may think of trading.
