Is it possible to troll in the off-topic thread? Would like also that there is the trolling thread and the lurking thread. Don't know exactly how the lurking thread would look like.

Nonsense is a subset of off topic. However, the concept of off topic does not necessarily imply nonsense.

What's most telling is that the crowd here tends to think that nonsense and off topic are essentially the same thing. What conclusions can one draw from that?

Why would that be true?

It's a common thing I hear about. I never really tried it I think I will though.

It's quite a common myth, however completely untrue.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that a study showed the complete opposite and it was actually beneficial in some way. I can't really remember the full details and I can't be bothered to look so you'll have to look your self if you want to know more.
