Something that has been asked but never been able to find a good answer.

What is Mining? I know its the decryption of sha-256 alga.
Im trying to describe mining to a technal person.

So here is the questions. This may help alot of Noobs out there also.

What is mining?
How is bitcoins created? <- "How is bitcoins created out of thin air?"
What is the point is decrypting the sha-256 alg?

There are more that I have been asked but I don't remember them off top of my head.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

........mining is the process of you giving your hard earned money to any asic producers holiday fund. In return they promise you a hash rate a few months in the future, by which time because of the rise in difficultly, you won't ever get you your money back. Simple.

Min(s)ing - you "mine" and the asic produces "(s)ing" all the way to the bank.

Read this: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining

Mining is the process of validating all transactions and recording them in the public ledger called the "block chain".

Coin mining is something I could have profited greatly from if I had been astute enough and with the foresight to get into it hardcore in early 2009, and had known where the BTC price peaks and dips were, to buy, sell, buy, sell my way to LOTS OF MONEY.

But I didn't know about any of the above things, so I didn't do much of any of them.

Don't waste money on mining now, the difficulty is way too high to make a profit now, even with high end ASICs.

A very good primer on what Bitcoin and mining is.  And it really appeals to techies.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?
