The biggest misconception in my country about bitcoin is that, bitcoin is just a means for people to steal and laundered money without being traced. I believe people don't want to accept change and adopt to the change.

People are now thinking that whenever anyone starts to join the crypto world, that means the person is corrupt and at the same time a hacker as well but this shouldn't be. Even now what they frown to is always sitting by your PC and browsing.

My country has no misconception about cryptocurrency. Only about 10% of the total population of my country have knowledge about cryptocurrency, and out of this 10% about 2% are  into bitcoin investment and the remaining 8% just have knowledge on what cryptocurrency is.

Same as in other countries. Most people believe that the crypto-currency market is a bubble, a casino and a scam.

In my nation, most people regard cryptocurrency as a ponzi scheme, the skepticism around it has hindered most from acquiring the basic knowledge of cryptocurrency.
Most people like to join a bandwagon, and by then it might be quite late.

Here in my country they thought bitcoin is just a scam only few people can fully understand what is blockchain and crypto currency so everytime they will hear bitcoin people will say you should stop that because its a Scam.
How about you? What is the weirdest thingy you heard from people about bitcoin or crypto currency?
in my country there is nothing strange with bitcoin, the government says it's true that digital currencies like bitcoin are very risky, because bitcoin has an unstable price. there is a lot of fraud in cryptocurrency, therefore the government prohibits bitcoin trading.

Same thing in our country. Even some of my relatives told me to stop because it's a scam and no matter how I explain it to them, their mind is closed about it.

People tend to believe in my country that cryptocurrency and bitcoin is a mere ponzi schemes. Their misconceptions is not far fresh from the fact most people in my country got scam in a popular online pear to pear ponzi schemes which alot of them lost so much money. And they henceforth believe anything not tangible and regularise by government is purely ponzi schemes.

they do not really believe because bitcoin is not physically like a country's legitimate money and most people think bitcoin is a fraud

indeed it is difficult to make it difficult for them to believe that bitcoin is true, because bitcoin which is intangible like banknotes is valid in my country, until they think that bitcoin is just a fraud ..

Here also, people think that bitcoin is not true because it is a cryptocurrency and exists only in the internet and not regulated. What fired up their thought that bitcoin is a scam is because of the news that some people who invested their money on bitcoin got scammed, and that bitcoin is associated with higher risks because of its volatility.

Same in my country, they see the next big thing in internet as a scam. It's saddens me every time i hear people says that. That's why i educate those who i can reach. We as a believer of cryptocurrencies should spread the advantage of it.

Same thing here but only for those who are not really into it. You know, the traditionalist and we can't blame them because of the news that are going out about scams on cryptocurrency although those in the trading system are already quite comfortable with it already.

I think that is the biggest misunderstanding of my government.
In my country, the government has banned people from entering the crypto market in any way. Messages that are so important and emergency messages cannot come to us as soon as possible and we must suffer losses when we do not update the news as soon as possible.

The misconception is that everything is too easy in cryptocurrency, it was very difficult to understand the current situation in the cryptocurrency market, which is trapped and many prices will jump.

here in my country people see bitcoin to be something without future since it has no legal backing. trust me despite the numerous misconceptions that people have about bitcoin most people has also taken it upon themselves to make something good and big out of it.

Probably the biggest misconceptions are:

Bitcoin is a ponzi scam and that people should avoid because it's scam and expensive.
Bitcoin is a currency in dark web that people use for illegal transactions; to avoid tracking from the government. Cry

In my country not so many people are familiar with cryptocurrencies and many of them are thinking that Bitcoin is some kind of scam or ponzi scheeme, other think that is highly complicated and sophisticated so they wouldn't understand it and some think it's connected to criminal and illegal activities so they don't want to have anything to do with it.
I beleive it's similar in many countries that is why we need more information and education about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and more positive promotion.

The strangest expressions I've heard from people in my country are: "what is your bitcoint?", "what it eats?  Huh Huh Huh", "it's a pyramid that's about to burst."... LOL, But in general, in my country do not really know what bitcoin is, and that bitcoin in my country is not popular.

Yes...good question you ask here

I think the biggest misconception abour cryptocurrency in my country NIGERIA is that cryptocurrency is a ponzi scheme. Because a lots of ponzi scheme companies have come into the country, looted people's money and disappeared. So the country is now on the page, anything that comes through internet or any sort of is a ponzi and it's a dead end.
