Till you can get profit, you will not loss your money if you don't sell your coin in lower price. A few years ago bitcoin price is only about $200 but in line of bitcoin adoption the price is now increase, just wait.

It's up to you,  if you want to get profit then you should wait because not every time bitcoin's rate increases, a few months ago december to be exact price of bitcoin raise up to $19000, it rises rapidly. So let's just wait to get more profit because bitcoin's price will increase soon. Though not now but soon.

In every business industry there's always up's and down's if you trust and love on what you invest you will not back out even in their worst scenario, business is like gambling there is no 100% accuracy on winning.

I think that the next year or 2 years bitcoin will still be popular enough to make profit from it because of volatility

it depends on what you are holding and what you plan on achieving by holding that thing!

what?
- bitcoin

bitcoin has a good future so it will continue being adopted more and because of that its price will continue to rise. so even if you ended up holding in a loss, you can be fairly certain that its price will go back up again and shoot up after that.

- altcoins
most altcoins are completely useless and all of them are pump and dumps. the whole altcoin market is usually looked at as a side market for small and risky trades. most of them won't even live long enough for holding to give you a good return and many of them have terrible supply plans which means in long term the sell pressure can not let their prices to go up.
holding these is not a good idea.

why?
- as a trader

if you want to trade anything (bitcoin or altcoins) then holding doesn't mean much. if you have bought it in a dip then you must sell it when price goes up or sell when it drops lower than your stop loss.

- as an investment
since not everyone is a trader then holding comes in here where you buy something that you believe has a good future or potential to grow then hold that even if there are fluctuations. but the part that i marked by an underline is very important. you can't just buy anything and wish for it to go up and have a good potential you have to know it has it.
and it is up to you to come to that conclusion and not fall for advertisement[/b].

My BTC have 25 precent of my wallet, i think BTC is a long term investment, so i don't care it   in short term. But some altcoin i holding, i always focus and following the team work on their project. So if i understand what they do, i can plan to when i can sell their token.

Really depends on you.

Do you need the money? Do you think you'd gain more if you cashed out and  re-invested in altcoins? No one can decide for you.

But no one knows how long you have to keep maybe you decide that.

A sense of selling if your already profit in the negative went, even then you have to wait until the last. No one will say when to sell, because it is unpredictable. But if you sell bitcoin then you should not invest in altcoins. You need to consider other ways of earning other than investment.

I think that it depends on how soon you would hold your bitcoin but If I myself will hold my btc, it would certainly be a year to be able to see the progress of it's potential growth. Investment in short term is actually not advisable this time since if you would check on the history of bitcoin, it's price value almost had reached $20k last quarter of 2017 and I think what happened last year still  be experience within this year. Therefore, just HODL your bitcoin investment and patiently wait for it's bullish run to happen soon.

I hold my coin as long as I know it didn't reach its potential and as long as I have enough money for me to spent for my daily need. I won't sell my coin early because I might regret if its value will pump higher than expected.

in my own opinion it may take a long time to return as before again maybe 1 or 2 years again to return as before unless something happens so it will be stable again.

You can HODL while still buying and selling. Just watch out for the pumps. Sometimes you will clearly see that it is a pump when the buying volume is so high. Check the fibonacci line, it is also usually a good sign that a price movement reversal is about to happen. Just make sure to always buy back before the price goes up again because remember, bitcoin is the future. Bitcoin's value now is nothing to what it will be in the future.

It's up to you. if you are holding on a loss, then it's time to sell some of it, but not the whole of it, because we can never sure when the new pump will come, but this year will be a relevant year for Bitcoin that is for sure.

If you are holding Bitcoin they you should need patience cause bitcoin always do correction just sell it if you get a profit that you can. Well Bitcoin price is times more than last year price. Dont hold for so long if you think you cant get any of that coin. And dont think that you can get profit if you invest on BITCOIN cause sometimes you lose when you dont have patience to wait. Just invest what you can afford to lose.

But no one knows how long you have to keep maybe you decide that.
The way on how you are may able to take a decision where are you able to sell that coin even we know that there is a lot of time but we can take a decision where in we are panic cause of the price that are falling down basic knowledge of that.
