Thank you so much for running this contest, Otoh.

I am stunned that it is over this soon.   Once again I learn that it is impossible to overestimate what bitcoin is capable of.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Why is this over?? Did we hit 1000 already? I must have been under a rock.

Did it hit 1000 on MtGox? (and volume?)

I'm traveling at very short notice & until I get to the States the first week of December I can't deal with it, sorry for the delay, it's for enjoyment so I'd rather do it when things were calm, I'll need to check that BTC-China really made it to $1,000 - I just copied the pic that someone posted - I assume that it's correct but need to verify, or others in the thread to do so would be better still, it's the biggest volume exchange atm so we aren't waiting for Mt. Gox or anything, I'll post this reply to your PM in the thread.

Sorry I have yet had time to even read the recent posts here.

Nevermind.  I just saw where entries are closed after $750

It is shame $1,000 hit BTCChina only.

Arbitrage is hard because fiat transfers are slow and unreliable  Tongue
It only proves $10,000 is not far away, Bitcoin is much more usefull for fast worldwide transfers

Well, whatever happened in the past, it's now looking pretty conclusive for Equus:

Congrats!

Thanks again dipsy.  I was just going to post a screenshot this morning, and I found your post.  Here is mine anyway:

I was pretty surprised that this contest finished a week and a half early.  I totally expected that the top three volume exchanges would only get to $1000 in the last days of November.

I'm a little surprised it's held up since peaking on BTCChina before. Great news for everyone, Bitcoin must be in some strong hands.

Again, my apologies for not having completed this, I'm on my final days now of travel & hectic biz, it's on the long to do list when things are more settled in the first week of December, it seems very sure now that Equus won with the help of BTC-China, I'd also just like to check that the balance in the 1Thousand address is correct, as I slipped up once & had to correct it, if anyone else could double check it then I could complete quickly & many thanks to those who confirmed Equus's win, much appreciated.

Crazy, busy times!  Grin

I would never have guessed this would be won so early.

Congrats to the winner.

Thank you.   I am still trying not to count my chickens before they are in my cold storage... or something like that.

It was pretty impressive to watch what bitcoin did in November.  I feel like I watched history being made, and to say that I predicted it would be laughable.

I intend to get this checked & the winnings sent before the weekend, there seems no doubt that Equus won it, I'd just like to look back through it all first & make sure that I haven't missed anything & that the correct coins are on the 1Thousand address exactly before sending, again my apologies for the delay - I've never had so little free time as now, though that's no bad thing - far from it, just needing to deal with critical things first.

No worries.

The delay has been very healthy for me.

For one thing, it guaranteed that I couldn't panic-sell my prize the day after I won it.  (Something I promise not to do regardless of how tonight's "double top" turns out.)

Best to take your time and make sure things are right.
