It's a misspelling of HOLD from a very hilarious drunken bitcoin rant years ago. It means hold on at all costs, stay the course, and don't sell because of a dip. It's an inside joke for us. Most people have adopted the acronym Hold On for Dear Life.

It means hold. As in, hold on to your bitcoin, don't sell. hodl stands for Hold On for Dear Life. I read another post that said hodl was a reddit users typo that stuck.

A few years back, someone made a legendary post to r/bitcoin. It made the front page of r/all and I think it became the highest rated bitcoin post ever. It's basically a free-wheeling rant about why he's shamelessly decided to hold his bitcoin. This was at a time when a lot of folks were starting to become traders...but not this guy. He's decided to hodl! (He was drunk as he typed). Even with all the mispellings and obvious inebriation, his words resonated with many people and became kind of an anthem to all those "hodlers" out there.

This is the best position in cryptocurrency . Bought at the bottom or on the sale of ICO and keep your asset for 1-2 years , and then enjoy the profit . But before buying you need to study that take

HODL means HOLD, it was a typo from this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0Eventually the community just turned HODL to abbreviate Hold On for Dear Life, as it seemed apt to ones scenario of holding crypto-currency in hopes of it rising again.

Cryptosphere has its own lingo and it takes a little getting used to. Maybe this term started as a gaff, or typo, whatever the reasons it stuck with the crypto community and is posthumously recognized and accepted to mean hold on for dear life, sounds about right and fits right into the sentiment too. So true. So many words were Greek to me when I first came into crypto. Some sites have compiled Crypto Words and their meanings articles to help newbs better understand the terms

Whenever a person says in a conversation that he/she is hodling or suggests to hodl, it means that they believe their coin will be profitable one day, if not today. So basically, “HODL” was originally a typo which has now popularly earned the status of a humorous backronym: “HODL” – “Hold on for dear life” Hodl (/ˈhɒdəl/ HOD-əl; often written HODL) is a slang term and Internet meme that is used in the Bitcoin community when referring to holding the cryptocurrency rather than selling it. ... TheStreet.com referred to it as the "favorite mantra" of Bitcoin holders.

Its seems that many investor use this world to earn more,if you are holding some tokens and altcoin and actually all you want for them is to hold and hold and sell until the price are getting to pump. For me holds is the besy way when you are stickly holding about some coins and you want to earn more.

HOLD is in fact an art of patience, this art is unfortunately not available to every market participant, I think that in general people have very different views on crypto-currencies, but HOLD should always be

Hodl is basically holding with "love". It is getting used for "this coin will raise so much and its early" or "this coin will recover after dump" situations. I personally love HODL ing people as holding is healthy for markets even if some people jokes them as "bag holders".

Can anyone clarify what this term means? I was wondering if it should really be spelt as "HOLD" or the meaning of "HODL" is really crypto-related. I already tried searching threads that explain this but was unsuccessful. I was very curious since I began reading discussions in bitcointalk and I usually see this term but I just understand it to mean 'hold' which means don't sell yet your coins. Please correct my misunderstanding if any. Thanks for your time.
Maybe it's like a word of encouragement when the market is really down.

From my point of view, HOLD is known as holding and the most widely used in the forum. And basically, hold your coin savings for the future, and sell for a good price. But do not throw it away.

So I've red about it before and it was said that it was spelled as it is because a member of a forum misspelled it (HODL instead of HOLD). Since then it was being used by other members. There is no difference in meaning, its just a misspelled qord that was already used as a technical term in the forum and even in the telegram.

One of the big things I focus on is mindset training. Create daily habits and routines to help you focus, processing information, focus, prepare better, deal with anxiousness, improve your physical fitness, and other aspects to put you in a peak state. Markets are volatile. Information can be instantaneous. Data moves quickly into and out of markets that require fast and accurate judgement. You can’t control that side of the trading equation, but you can control the “you” that you bring to trading. A combination of high performance daily habits heightens your probability of consistency in yourself. Focus on what you can control in trading, and that is you.

If you can become consistent in your trading process in terms of executing your edge and your money management, and you have a positive trade expectancy sizing properly is essential for growing your trades. Some traders trade too big too quickly, which causes inconsistency and usually a large setback.

It is defined as a slang term or meme in the internet that is used in the Bitcoin community when referring to holding the cryptocurrency rather than selling it. Most of the people choose holding crypto currencies rather than selling it that's why the HDOL was coined. You are holding you coin for a long period of time for a purpose.
