I'm pretty new to this, and after researching a bit, I feel like ETH is going places and has far fewer barriers to expansion that BTC. I want to buy and hold some coins, and as of now i'm leaning towards ETH. but I can't ignore the fact that bitcoin seems like top dog still... so convince me to buy BTC instead of eth. Give a reason besides "first movers advantage" Tongue

Check the coinmarketcap and check Google there's no explanation or no need to convince you to invest because in the first place you are here in Bitcointalk forum and all topics start and end on Bitcoin if you are leaning Eth then go for it, but if you are a cryptocurrency adopter it's hard to ignore Bitcoin.

That is absolutely true that all convo starts and ends with BTC. But can "first movers" advantage really keep it going forever? I'm really wondering... and you are a hero member so I know you know more than I do which is why i'm asking!

I think bitcoin is still the best, and ethereum is under bitcoin, and the popularity of bitcoin is still the best. But if you have your choice, you can buy according to your belief.

The very fact you're not keen to but Eth is a proof that somewhere in your subconscious mind you want Bitcoins. Well for me Bitcoins is the crypto king, Eth is just a alt and alts don't do well. Bitcoins is a household name and all love it, it's prices shoots up like a rocket, easy to cash out your earnings. Plus with the lightning network it'll be unstoppable. Also you're getting it relatively throw away prices. So what are you waiting for?

don't buy bitcoin, go buy more ETH.

if you buy lets say 10BTC you get 10BTC out of 21 million bitcoin that is always going to be fixed and not a single coin more. so i can not get that 10BTC ==> my loss.
but if you buy ETH, lets say 10 of it you are buying 10 out of infinite number of ETH, no matter if you buy 10, 100000, or ... there will always be more of it to buy ==> nobody cares LOL

There is a FOMO brewing...

We don't need someone to convince to invest in BTC not in ethereum. Its upon your hands and trust to the coin, we cannot control whatever you want.
BTC and ETH for me are good, you can invest in any of them though there some disadvantages in both side and you must be a aware of it.

for now the first good coin to buy bitcoin. because bitcoin will be the first coin whose price will rise and altcoin like eth and others. I recommend buy 70% bitcoin and then buy eth and altcoin

No one will convince you. Why do we need it? Investing in cryptocurrency is not an easy task. You must have knowledge and make your choice consciously and independently. If you want to be convinced you are too early to invest in cryptocurrencies. Now the bad situation in the market. Maybe you should spend that time studying cryptocurrencies.

Why do we need to convince you if you like a coin then make an investment, Surely we can say that the price of ETH is pretty down right now but I am pretty sure that it is a good thing to buy right now because we are so sure that it can recover from a certain down fall, And if you got a few bucks to spare why not invest with both, As you can see bitcoin is the king of all crypto and if bitcoin drop so are well known Altcoins and vice versa when bitcoin surge up so are other Altcoins from this assumption and analysis we can see that bitcoin is more important from any other coins.

Here is why you should buy bitcoins instead of ETH:

1) Bitcoin is older than ETH. It is thus more reliable than ETH or any other new coin.

2) All coins are affected if the bitcoin prices fluctuate. Thus it makes sense to invest in bitcoins only.

You know what that is easy, i can simply say that BTC is more profitable than ETH because the ETH price only depends on BTC if you read some news or see some on the internet the bitcoin price is still dropping and so as the ETH by this if you try to invest in bitcoin because the demand is high you can earn more if you ever try to trade ethreum.

Investing in this market is very risky and no one can predict the future of this market. Personally I am still puzzled about the future of Bitcoin and probably this year Bitcoin will show signs of falling and it is hard to rebound to the $ 20,000 price but if you look to the future then surely Bitcoin will increase rather than reduce

you can invest in cryptocurrency right now because as we can see the market the price of all coin is in the lower price in this year, its mean that its buy time , if you can make sure that you want to buy i think you can do some research about eth and BTC, for me eth is more trustful than bitcoin i don't know why but i trust in ETH, i believe that ETH price will back soon

Just invest in what you believe in. I only advise you to diversify your portfolio to have better chance to make profit.

Buying eth is not bad, but bitcoin is better. Bitcoin fluctuation affects all altcoin primarily eth. So the altcoin movement depends on btc. If btc goes down drastically then the others go down too. Btc is the most popular virtual currency, so no doubt

Why do you think Ethereum is going somewhere and not Bitcoin? Just note that Ethereum is more geared for Smart contracts

and not really meant to be used as a currency. Bitcoin is an alternative for cash and the Lightning Network will launch Bitcoin

use as a currency to the Moon. Ehtereum cannot scale like Bitcoin can with the Lightning Network.  Wink  ...Is there really a

choice?

Ethereum price has recently declined to about $400 which is a good price for Ethereum which used to cost more than $1000. Ethereum is a great investment but I'm not sure if it's the best time. Bitcoin correction might end anytime soon which will result in the dump of altcoins. Ethereum Alliance has been silent for a while, are they doing anything right now? They managed to pump Ethereum really high last time. If I were you I would go for Bitcoin which I would exchange for Ethereum after it reached $30.000

To persuade a person to make a choice in one direction or another is pointless and not necessary. Asking a question he already knows the answer to him initially, but asks only for the purpose to make sure his choice is correct, so I'm sure you have already decided Wink
