I've been using Coinbase to get money into BTC which can of course then be easily transferred between exchanges.  It's so expensive though.  Is there a better way?  I was using CampBX+Dwolla until that disappeared.
The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

CampBX is going to be accepting ACH by the end of the month.

In the meantime you can mail them a check or money order.

Or you can do an international wire to bitstamp which is expensive and a pain.

Coinbase is actually not a bad deal.

Getting money into and out of an exchange and dealing with volatility and uncertainty are some of the problems with bitcoin.

they are all spot on, for US guys, no there is no way really of buying them even at market value.  You can however go to localbitcoins.com and pay twice the value and mail cash, (Im kidding dont do that)

How about BTC-e's EgoPay option?  Apparently it allows you to fund with Visa/Mastercard:
