So I'm not sure how this happened but the block chain database seems to be having a problem being downloaded.
I know this occurred to me prior to downloading the latest release and it was fixed in the most recent version of Bitcoin-qt

However I seem to be receiving the message again and don't want to have to download the entire chain.
Any suggestions as to what I should do?

This is the message I receive: Error opening block database.
Do you want to rebuild the block database now?
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

try: bitcoin-qt -reindex
if that doesn't work use https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=145386.0 hey, it's faster than syncing over network

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I ended up re-indexing the damn thing -.-
I tried re-downloading the client and overwriting the one already installed and that didn't work.
So I just decided to re-download the entire chain. This would be the second time I do this. It about two days.
But I got it done. (sigh)  Tongue
