I am glad of the debate as it helps me understand how to make the site as useful as possible.

I've just added:

-BTCLook
-BitcoinAverage
-Bitcoin Examiner
-Plus500

How do you choose which ones you add? I don't think one of those I listed are less relevant than these.

The forum strives to allow free discussion of any ideas. All policies are built around this principle. This doesn't mean you can post garbage, though: posts should actually contain ideas, and these ideas should be argued reasonably.

There is no set criteria yet, though I may develop some basic framework.

Some reasons to not immediately include a site: potential scam; other listed sites do the same thing better; don't currently have a suitable category; I don't currently have the time to properly assess the website...

I went through all of your suggestions to some extent, here were my initial thoughts:

  • coinmap.org - Good, useful site. Need to add a category for it... other sites may do the same job better? I would need to research. Added to my 'to be reviewed again' list.

bitmine.ch - Mining company so suitable category for it. I need to check how reputable they are. Added to my 'to be reviewed again' list.

btclook.com - Very impressive site, suprised I hadn't seen it before. Added.

fetchtx.info - Good at what it does, but lacks features of traditional block explorers. Not sure if it has any benefits over currently listed sites. Could be advised otherwise?

bitcoinaverage.com - Good niche site. I anticipate that space will be at a premium before too long and there are other quality sites for market data at the moment.

coined.com - Similar to the last two sites in some ways, but may be able to find a suitable space as it certainly useful. Added to the 'to be reviewed again' list.

letstalkbitcoin.com - Looked like an interesting site. I will have to listen to the shows and find a category for it. Added to the list to come back to it.

bitcoinexaminer.org- Regularly updated with good content. Suitable category. Added.

justcoin.com - An exchange that I know nothing about so will have to research properly and see if it can be included. Added to list.

As you can see it's not an exact science and my limited time can make things a bit slow, however I plan to work on the site daily  Smiley

Well I think it's useful for developers to analyze a transaction (not available so detailed on the traditional block explorers).
Maybe add a new category anyway with links to Bitcoin libraries, websites etc. relevant for developers?

bitcoinaverage.com - Good niche site. I anticipate that space will be at a premium before too long and there are other quality sites for market data at the moment.
Looks like you've added this one.

coined.com - Similar to the last two sites in some ways, but may be able to find a suitable space as it certainly useful. Added to the 'to be reviewed again' list.
I'd add it to market data, as it shows marked data.

letstalkbitcoin.com - Looked like an interesting site. I will have to listen to the shows and find a category for it. Added to the list to come back to it.
    Quite famous I think.

justcoin.com - An exchange that I know nothing about so will have to research properly and see if it can be included. Added to list.[/li]
Mostly known in Norway afaik, but interesting since it has zero fee.

I've added my opinion in green. Thanks for you work Smiley

BTW: Does such an index also exist for local communities? So everybody can check if there is a local Bitcoin group meeting regularly and how many people meet, that would be cool.
Thanks for your comments, I like the idea of a category for developers.

    I forgot that I added bitcoinaverage.com! Embarrassed

I'm going to go ahead and add coined.com too, as they are both equally useful IMO. Maybe there will be a different category for them in the future so they can stand out.

I've never seen an index for local communities, that would be cool. If I had the information, I could have a category for them and then list US,EU,etc., and then use a pop-up box for the list of communities in that area.

I am sure that you already considered this but for sake of discussion:
With your limited time, perhaps in the future you would add a site submission form (with a captcha) to streamline things. Although of negative side of this is having to weed out submission of sites that are unrelated and/or low quality. Cheers...

This would definitely streamline things, but would remove the editorial side if the sites were added immediately.

If they were added to a pool that would be reviewed and then automatically listed if accepted.... this would be a really cool feature and it would certainly save me a lot of time! Something to think about for sure  Smiley

    Sites added:

    -Bitcoin Video Casino
    -Coinboard

At someone's suggestion, I have created a twitter account.

I will tweet when I add new sites/categories and when there is other site news Smiley
