Because newbies can only reply in the Newbies section of the forum.
Read the sticky on how to to gain access to the rest of th board.

New members are confined to the newbie area until they have a certain number of posts and time on the site. I think it is something like 5 posts and a certain number of hours logged in, can't remember exactly though.

No.  Look at the top, where it says:
"Total time logged in:"  That's the time you've been logged in, once it hits 4 hours, your restrictions should be lifted.
And seriously???  Happy mining??? x_x

Ahh just seen this:

Ok thanks! I read the sticky; it says:

"Newbie Restrictions
You can only post in the Newbie and Local sub-forums till you have made one post and waited 4 hours. This post must be substantial: at least several sentences. The other two restrictions are you need 1 post to be able to send a PM and 10 posts to put a link in your sig."

I've been a member here since April of this year, but I haven't made any posts yet, so this explains my "restricted" status...
So (please correct me if I'm wrong), I have to wait 4 hours from starting this topic to be able to reply to a thread outside of the "Newbie" forum...

Glad someone made this thread so I dont have to.

And to think, all I wanted to do was tell a fellow GTX 670 user how to increase their output through cudaminer.

EDIT: Wtf, I'm being prevented from posting this because my account supposedly made a post within the last 360 seconds. How is that possible when I have zero posts?

Mind telling me this? I am currently using cudaminer and on an ASUS GTX 670.

You currently should be good to go as you are now marked as a Junior Member. Junior Members and above can but when you first start it has you as a newbie and keeps you from such things because they are wanting to limit the chances of spam bots. Hope that helps.

When OP made this thread, there were some newbie restriction in place.
So, he needed to make a post and wait 4 hours before being able to reply in other places.

But NOW, all the newbie restrictions are gone.
You can go straight to the board or thread you want to reply. What you need is just to wait 6 minutes between each posts; and actions like logging in and searching will reset the timer.

It shows 4 hours and 12 minutes above but I still can't reply on another post...OK...I'll be honest it's for a coin give away which I have already moved my miners to but still want the extra 2,000 coins.  I have posted in the past concerning the crazy Coinye's and 0daycoins.com and have a 4 hour Total time logged in above.

I'm pretty new to this and have been mining on 6 rigs now for over two months. To all the other newbies out there, you really can get some good advice on here as to setting up rigs, alt-coins, exchanges...but I still can't tell you exactly how to get past the newbie status.

Do you have to post then sit at that same post for 4 hours?

And then I read the post stating coin give aways are forbidden.  WTF?  I have been seeing these since first coming here from google links and the first time I decide to put my name in the hat, I find it can get you banned.  That's my luck.  Had the same luck with fricken doges when I decided to ride out the drop and not sell my 3,000,000 at their peak only to find that now the devs decided to keep adding unlimited coins so that value won't be going back up anytime soon.

Timing is everything in the crypto-currency world.  Don't believe it?  Ask the big bitcoin holders that started mining two years before us noobs.

Nope, read my post above yours. There is no newbie restrictions now.

And then I read the post stating coin give aways are forbidden.

Yup, all the altcoin giveaway thread is locked now.
After all, this is bitcointalk, not altcointalk.
