Been lurking over in the mining section for a few days now, thought I'd sign up.

Friend of mine is dumping his small mining operation on me to mess around with (5 erupters), and I have been playing around with it all weekend. It's run with my Raspberry Pi which is finally being used except for collecting dust! Trying to figure out the wallets and such, really sad looking that my wallet has 0.00 BTC!

Anyway hello everyone.

Also here's an image of my current setup, nothing fancy, just got one of the five erupters running, waiting for the rest from my friend.

Hey. Did your friend gift them to you? That 1 Erupter really needs some friend to join him!

Nice friend you have there, assuming he don't charge you a lot for those 5 erupters. You might want to consider a pool so that your 5 erupters would get some BTC everyday.

I signed up for the BTC guild pool for now, see how that goes. Any suggestions on a better pool or are they fairly good? I'm waiting to get the rest of the erupters later this week, but he didn't charge me for em, he quit mining since profitability is gone, I like to tinker and mess with stuff so will see what I can do to these USB sticks =D

Welcome to the forum, and good luck mining! With difficulty as it is, I would look into mining altcoins. Like mining bitcoin, it is also very speculative, though.

I'm currently looking at TomPool, they move from coin to coin for whichever is more profitable, I know litecoin I can't mine with USB erupters, which would be the next step.

Also thought I'd ask, for the USB erupters do they need to be shut off once a day or just keep them rolling 24/7?

Thanks all!
