Money doesn't make people happy.  Material things don't make people happy.  People make people happy, you control your own happiness.

You control how you feel.

In the absence of money, could you make yourself happy?  Money won't last forever.

Have you asked squall if material things make him happy?  Because you took $10,000 of his money, used to to buy material goods to make yourself happy, and then screwed him with the bill.  How are you going to make him even?

Ultimately happiness comes from within. That being said, money will make your life so much better. It can solve so many problems. If you are generally happy, then money will make you much happier. If you are unhappy though, I think money will just make you more miserable.

Furthermore, it's important to see money is essentially nothing more than a deal between numerous parties.
It only exists because e.g. paying with a goat is impractical when you buy your groceries, so maybe 'Does abundance makes you happy' is a better question.

Money doesn't make me happy. The things I can do with it make me happy. It puts the food on the table and pays for certain luxuries. So, my answer would have to be No it doesn't make me happy and I don't think it makes anyone happy. However, the things we can do with that money is what makes people happy.

Yes, money make you happy. This holds true for me because I lived for some time with bare minimum so I really appreciate money and know how hard is to live without money
