People should calm down and actually read the article. The title is misleading, and once again shows how people here are easy to influence. The only thing this article points out is that alongside other tools, crypto can function as tool for terrorists, and that's true -- it can be used by terrorists, and likely is already. Even online banking is being put into the same subject. Crypto essentially offers the best possible features since transactions can't be stopped by centralized authorities, and receivers can't be prevented from receiving funding, and best of all is the fact that it doesn't require any sort of initial verification. It's an article stating the very obvious. It's pretty neutral in my opinion....
Well, cash can always be anonymous as well. In fact it is a lot more anonymous than a cryptocurrency with an open blockchain since you can trace every transaction. If a terrorist group to pay anyone, they can just hand over the cash and be done with it. No central authority to stop them, no one can stop a receiver from receiving it, and no need for initial verification.
The world is just really paranoid about the "anonymity" feature of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, where they can't even see the fact that cash is the same, it may just be slower and in a physical form but it has been used for hundreds of years already for illicit activities. I don't even think cryptocurrencies contribute to 10% of the current illegal transactions around the world yet where cash is likely king.
