Will Bitcoin price reaches $20.000 this year?

As it was said many times, bitcoin price is unpredictable. We can only guess, and my guess is "no". Bitcoin may rise to $20k in 2019, but we would be lucky to return to $10k in 2018.

I agree to this. We will be lucky if we reach 10k again soon (other then in a bull trap). We seem to be in a downtrend and it's not over yet. We haven't seen the consolidation yet. After we have 3-4 months of stability at a certain level (be it 6k, 5k or even 2k) then we can talk of breakouts (in any direction). Everything else are just bull traps. The direction WILL NOT change before the following are true: a consolidation was reached to determine "true" value AND some positive news change the trend.

Also my hunch is there will be plenty of bad news ahead, more regulation and technological failures. With 2017's adoption come noobs and security problems. A new mgox may be close. Also don't forget what happened in december when fees made BTC unsualble for any real payments and the transaction backlog had half a million unconfirmed transactions in it. The scalability problem hasn't been solved and we are orders of magnitudes away from the speeds/costs of Visa.

I'm really sorry for all the people that bought at ATH, your money is most likely lost (unless you are willing to wait it out for several years). I've warned people of this in december and like everybody else that was not super hyped we were called FUDers and crazy people.

I doubt it can reach that height this year, tho some people believe it could. In time... probably it could and will, but hype that lead to such price rising was really strong. I doubt another hype like that could happen this year, but there are other things that could lead to price rising so... At least its not impossible right.

When we think about bitcoin price in the future we must always believe that everything is possible, last year was great year and if we don't see some huge rise this year it will be happen in next year. What can lead to price rise ask yourself, and you have all the answers around. Where bitcoin was two years ago, where it is now, where will be in  next two years? Its progressing, going forward and backward, but look prices in every April before this year? Bitcoin made a good run, will it continue to do that, its very possible! For now I give bitcoin 50-50 chances to recover previous ath in this year, I will rethink about this odds in month.

Everything IS possible, there is no doubt about that. But sometimes things just doesn't work as we wanted, no matter how much we wanted and no matter how much we were positively feeling. At the end we all face the reality one way or another. But if Bitcoin survive all that is going on atm (and I totally believe it will), I guess in time its value can only rise. Looking back on its price in every April brings hope, but it proves nothing. Different things could occur this time. But even if bitcoins doesn't reach $20k again this year or any other, I agree that it was a good run like you said. All of us will rethink odds in month or so.

Stop focusing on that damned $20,000 level. It was hype and speculation having lead to the market reaching these levels. If Bitcoin doesn't reflect being worth that value, why should it go up there? The only solid bullish triggers to see the price increase significantly are LN being no longer in beta, or some financial instruments backed by actual coin supply. Till that time keep your expectations on the lower side.

I am happy with current market, where unlike other greedy people here, aren't looking for yet another empty bull run ending in the same manner, and that while knowing that it is quite profitable to act in such scenario. What we need currently is a slow but steady increase that's maintainable, and it seems that we are building on that right now. If we close the end of the year at any level above $10,000 we have done well.

In fact, if we roll like this for the rest of the year, I would not mind anyway, as it would just give chance to keep accumulating for the future instead of just some unnecessary FOMO rush in that greed ushered in last year. Anyone who is not patient enough for the market to grow steadily with respect to demand no matter how long it takes should not even be here. At least if there would be a demand, there should be a whole reason for that.

While your analysis has some good points I'd like to point out to the fact that the next halving is like just 2 years away, so we could expect 2019 to be a recovery year, with emphasis on people stocking up for the expected bull market come the next halving season. That is, if there's no big news in the coming months that would severely depreciate the market.

but when that time comes,it will not change the price significantly.

you are half correct because you are missing the effects of halving on the supply or conversely the amount of new coins injected in the market.

the first part about the news of the halving increasing the price is correct. that is how bitcoin gets hyped up at times and rises but then after the halving happens and some time goes by (like 2-3 months) we will see the rate at which new bitcoin is created decrease and that can potentially decrease the sell pressure on the market from miners who want to pay their bills.

Well, it is a possibility that is bound to happen and may not happen at all before we see the end of December this year. Although, I am optimistic that if it can happen last year I see no reason why it will not happen before end of this year.

It’s probably not going to happen this year. I base that on the fact that we are in mid April and the price of Bitcoin is under $7000 with no clear sign that it has reached the bottom. Even if the price has bottomed out, the recovery could be slow. I don’t think the price will suddenly spike back to $20,000 quickly. The crash scared away a lot of the weaker and less experienced investors that were driving the price up.

Personally I don't see it reaching $20.000 this year. Maybe something close to that, but if its better than at what its currently standing, I would have to say that that's not bad at all. I read a good comment on this topic, don't focus on the $20.000 mark, focus on bigger things, if you're money is returned at least, or maybe you're in profit, then its good. The reason why we have what we have now is because people are just so greedy expecting a very huge value for nothing and thinking of how they are just going to get rich quick. Nothing drove that demand last year except for fomo, if a real demand gets it there, good and well, but trying to speculate and imagine what the future holds is the reason a lot of people make a huge investment mistake. No one knows where the market is going, but as an investor, do not expect too much in the short term.

People got extremely hyped up in 2017 with Bitcoin reaching that all time high, thus, people keep focusing on just it being surpassed, which is obviously wrong. I do also doubt that 2018 will be the year of "surprises", that was 2017, it won't happen again, twice in a row. I will be happy if we even manage to surpass $10.000 within this year, after such a volatile market, it would be a blessing.

It seems over the past couple weeks Bitcoin has reached its bottom. The past few months volatility was huge with huge drops and big recoveries, while searching for where the bottom of the market is. Now that it has settled at the bottom of the market in the 6000s/7000s the volatility has dropped a ton. It'll probably be a slow shift to moving back up, but we'll likely see $10k by the end of the spring and $20k in the Fall, leading into the next bull run in 2019 (probably shooting up to $50k-$100k).

many professionals have already expressed their opinion about the fact that by the end of 2018 Bitcoin may not rise even above 11,000 dollars. So this year we will see only a slight increase, And maybe even a complete calm on the market.
