In order to mine btc or other sha-256 coins and if the hashrate could be similar to what I get from ethereum mining?

No. Forget about mining Bitcoin on a PC, it won't give you anything.

Other coins may or may not work, but you'll have to move (left-bottom) this thread to Mining (Altcoins).

I have 4 rx580 8gb mining ethereum at 120 mghz, getting 0.00034 eth per hour, I don't care about electricity consume since I got it free. In this case, do you think that I could be able to have an sha-256  hasrate to get 0.00002 btc per hour?
Thanks for your reply

It would be far more profitable if you farmed Ethash or Cryptonight coins and resell them for BTC afterwards. You will only waste your hardware on the sha256 algo mate, no one is even talking about electricity here Cheesy No one is mining BTC with normal gear, #ASICsonly Smiley
If you want you can try NiceHash - you can mine ETH, but get paid in BTC.

Linux is a better operating system than Windows but even Linux is not capable of making miracles happen.

You should mine Ethereum and exchange it to Bitcoin as there is where the RX 580 cards are the most efficient in mining. Even if you have free electricity don't waste your time mining Bitcoin as the actual network difficulty of Bitcoin makes it difficult even to mine with Asics in terms of profitability so with graphic cards you don't stand a chance.

I'm sure it could be done if you could track down a SHA-256 miner program from when btc was minable with GPUs--but the problem is that the network difficulty is so high and there is so much hash (from ASICs, which deprecated GPUs) that your cards would probably make less than the electricity to run them.

What most would recommend is mine ethash coins/monero7 etc with your AMDs then trade for BTC. Good luck.

Ya, Cryptonight7 and Cryptonight-Heavy bring back GPU to the game.

I really would like to see Bitmain ASICs become paperweight.

You can mine bitcoin using your GPU, but you'll be got nothing, so don't do it!

You can mine another SHA256 coin if that coin has total hashrate (Global Hashrate) let's say 100 X your (4 x rx580 8gb) on SHA256 algorithm if you are pooled mining. And max 10 x your (4 x rx580 8gb) on SHA256 algorithm, if you are solo mining. But it's almost impossible to find SHA256-based coins like thatGrin  So forget it.

I have 6pcs RX580 8GB with a 1800Watt Power Supply but i warn you this Cards have a uncontrollable Energy consumption in OC Mode!
My PSU is falling out under a special condition and the PSU is switching ON for 5 Seconds and then OFF - nobody can't help me till yet.
For Example i mine ETH with 6pcs RX580 8GB the first Card 0 have at start only 5,88GB i think what shall the DAG file is only 3GB big.
But after 6-7h mining the Power Supply will collapse at ~145-153MH/s and the Machine is off.
Motherboard H81 No-name with a i3 CPU and 8GB RAM 1333MHz. This is now in 3 month the second Power Supply. The first Power Supply explode and no body can help me.

Now my Question - how i can find out witch Card is defect? Tomorrow i measure the Power consumption and i think the 1800Watt PSU will go down. Huh
RX580 8GB = 208Watt but i don't know is that in normal Mode or in OC (Over Clock) Mode?
6pcs * 208Watt= 1248Watt could it be that sometimes the OC will kick the Power consumption over this Wattage?
i use 16.04 and ethminer you can also use claymore miner that i think is also fast and good but i don't know how i can align this.

............................................................................... ..........

Your 1800 watt PS more than enough to handle your 6 X RX580. You need to explain more your conditions with more proper writing format.

At this moment, I can only suspect it caused by your unnamed H81 board. Better to open a new post and follow this guide to explain your condition:

I bought a Wattmeter and my measure is at the Start of the PC ~250W (Login) then in mining mode ~1340W. From the Mechanic i change something i make on the back mounting rail where are the Cards mounted drill holes so the heat is going out there on the backside. Then the 6th Card where build in the PC Case - i deinstall the Card and mount it on the Top of the Case. The reason is that the Hot Air stream is going direct in the Power Supply and will heat this up so long that the thermal fuse is falling and the Power Supply switched off. And i don't no why!?
Then i switch the Cards from OC to Silent and now i hope that shall run. Today we don't have Problems like Overheat or Hashrate falling till yet - all that was gone. I hope so that will be so also in Future. Yet is 17:41 15(day).4(month).2018 and now i can't reach the dwarfpool - i think this is today a bad day - maybe.
I bought also a Thermometer with a Laserpoint and measure the Cards during mining from left to right Card0 45°C, Card1 52°C, Card2 55°C, Card3 58°C, Card4 62°C, Card5 55°C. Card4 is the Card exact over the CPU Fan and the nearest to the Power Supply so it is the Hottest Card. But 62°C i think is a good Temperature so it is not overheated.
I think a lot of this Problems are self made like Over Temperature.

One Problem i have had again this day - the mine is drop down in Speed to 38,25mhs and if i ask about the task with "ps -A|grep ethminer" two ethminer processes will be running. How can that be? Who start the ethminer first after reboot? In the rc.local is nothing that can start the ethminer. Any ideas? I boot the PC and a ethminer process is running but who start this process? hollygosth or Fantom?
