Building A Global Ecosystem for Medical Services

Tokenized by Physicians and Health Care Professionals

_______________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________

_______________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________

HealthSapiens is currently a fully operational network that connects patients to physicians. We are proposing to build the first decentralized healthcare platform for disintermediating patients and providers, while providing a new incentive model for proactive, outcome-based rewards.

Powered by the Ethereum blockchain, physicians and patients will be able to connect directly, manage payments, and gain access to electronic medical records, while still complying with global privacy and safety requirements.

All parties involved in the offering or consuming of care will be incentivized in a self-sustaining, tokenized free-market environment that thrives on transparency, tangible activity, and accuracy of care, instead of the interest of an intermediary

THE PROBLEMS CURRENTLY FACING HEALTHCARE - CENTRALIZED & SILOED

Most nations on the planet are too poor, and their Healthcare system is too disorganized to provide any kind of efficient mass medical care. Clearly, such systems go against human ethics and create an even greater disparity – widening the gap between rich and poor. The rich can afford healthcare, while the poor stay sick or die. Even worse, in rural regions of Africa, India, China and South America, hundreds of millions of people go their whole lives without ever seeing a doctor. First-world nations are not immune from the broken system; according to the National Association of Community Health Centers, approximately 62 million individuals in the United States have limited or no access to primary care physicians as a result of shortages.

Top barriers to care
Regardless of the Healthcare system that underpins the foundation of healthcare delivery, whether it is a single-payer, government, or an insurance-driven system, the barriers-to-care can be defined as:

Lack of access to care
-People’s provider choices are confined to their regional area
-There can be as few as one doctor per 1,000 people in some areas
-Poor access to care often removes one’s ability to make care a priority, leading to formerly-preventable urgent care visits

High costs
-Access to Healthcare is often dependent on full-time employment
-According to the Journal of American Medical Association, $734 billion (27%) of all healthcare spending was wasted on unnecessary services, inefficiency and inflated prices.
-According to Truven Analytics, 71% of emergency room visits with employer-sponsored insurance coverage are ambulatory sensitive, and could have be managed in an outpatient care center.

Too many intermediaries
-Every intermediary in the healthcare chain adds
-Undue costs to the consumer
-Delays to providing care
-Misaligned incentives for each party involved
-Patient data is spread and stored in centralized servers with third parties that never interact with the patient.

Low quality care
-With centralized systems, doctors are incentivized to shorten appointment times so they can see as many patients as possible
-Important symptoms or necessary information can be missed
-A sick-care model is the status quo: care is provided only after illness manifests
-Missed-diagnoses are rewarded similarly to correct diagnoses
-Electronic Medical Records are non-standardized and siloed away from parties that need access. The information needed by doctors is not passed accurately from party to party

THE DECENTRALIZED AND GLOBAL HEALTHSAPIENS OPPORTUNITY

By creating a decentralized Electronic Medical Record (EMR) which is cryptographically secured and owned by the patient, we will be laying the foundation for a new and powerful global healthcare network. With medical records being placed upon a blockchain, patient data can provided to the people that need it both instantaneously and privately. This platform will lower the cost of medical care, increase convenience and give patients control over their health care.

With the blockchain platform physicians will have the option to live and practice wherever they choose while providing care to anywhere in the world, regardless of country, culture, or language. This method removes all possible barriers for care to be restricted to one geographical region or political jurisdiction.

HEALTHSAPIENS AND THE BLOCKCHAIN

HealthSapiens’ singular “3-in-1” blockchain model uses the Ethereum protocol to:

1. Establish a trust-free healthcare delivery system creating multiple chains with a consensus systems to link global players
2. Solve healthcare legacy system dilemma of sharing vs. protecting data. The current healthcare legacy systems were designed as information silos and not designed to share data. Our platform connects legacy systems to modern technologies.

Our underlying blockchain technologies allow interoperability of EMR from various worldwide legacy systems for various personal data transactions by:
-Identifying the person that is subject of the data
-Identifying the user requesting person’s data
-Recording and auditing the authorization to release the person’s data,
-Establishing the authenticity of the data that is being released,
-Paying the service that offered the personal data,
-And auditing that the shared data was used as expected

HEALTHSAPIENS UTILITY TOKEN MECHANICS (LITE)

HealthSapiens DOC is the native token of the HealthSapiens platform that can be purchased or earned by contributing to the network. Users of this platform can use tokens to execute smart contract payments and transactions within the system. The patient’s HealthSapiens token card will automatically get transferred to the coin wallet of physicians, whom they visit via smart contracts in the blockchain.

How it works

The HealthSapiens token is the fuel for driving the blockchain infrastructure. It propels the movement from a fee-for-service model to a value-based model. It is also used in payment, once smart contracts are executed. Compensation will be based on how effectively the network of providers work together to ensure improvement in the quality of care and wellness outcome, while at the same time reducing associated care cost.

The token exchange process is triggered when a patient sees a doctor; when a patient review is submitted and validated by a pool of physicians; and when scientists contribute research to the platform.

The goal of the project is community oriented and humanitarian. Today's health care is extremely important, poor patient status, limited facilities, distance from home to medical facilities far away ... many do not know good doctors, specialized hospitals ... The project has solved many problems.
Doctors and patients will be able to connect directly, manage payments and access electronic medical records while complying with global security and safety requirements. I am very interesting and interested in the project.

What does it mean "HealthSapiens is currently a fully operational network that connects patients to physicians?",

if it's fully functional, why does it need an ICO? Whats the point

Thank you for an excellent question. Today, HealthSapiens (healthsapiens.com) is an existing healthcare service that connects patients and physicians 24/7. The extent in which we help the tens of thousands of patients on our network has reached its limits in our current ecosystem, especially related to how our team's vision for a patient-centric, global and borderless ecosystem that disintermediates insurance companies.

Now, HealthSapiens (healthsapiens.io) has decided to take this same business model, and put it on the Ethereum blockchain. By tokenizing the platform, this same proven buissness model can now be made to be borderless and permissionless. This increases total outreach for healthcare services, and increases access to care to previously neglected individuals.

Let me know if this answers your question.

Please download our white paper to find out more about how our existing company informs the creation and realization of HealthSapiens on the blockchain.

As much as i love seeing new project adopting the decentralized blockchain technology to provide services for the betterment of teaming population around the world, it is also important to fully comprehend the concept and business model of such project.

According what is written on your website in qoute "The healthcare system is failing" is this base on assumptions or on research conducted by HealthSapiens?

"The rich can afford healthcare, while the poor stay sick or die" how can the poor afford to buy this tokens to access this service if they are poor?

What happens when the tokens appreciate in value and out of the reach of the poor?

Hi Notin2, Thanks for your questions.

The main points that hold up the claim "Healthcare is failing" are as follows.
  • On average, healthcare spending is increasing at a higher rate than people's income, which is unsustainable.
  • Higher Healthcare spending doesn't prove to produce better health outcomes and value. For example, the United States continues to spend considerably more on healthcare than comparable countries, but it is in the lower half of the life expectancy rankings
  • The most common model of healthcare is a fee-for-service model, where positive outcomes are not incentivized, and negative outcomes leads to increased revenue
  • Healthcare Services aren't available to a significant portion of the population; specifically the portion of the population that could use it the most
  • The culmination of all these factors lead to people putting their healthcare issues lower in their priority, due to the inefficiency and costs it brings. Neglecting one's personal health often allows chronic health issues to worsen over time, and ultimately be more costly than if they had the tools to deal with their issues proactively.

Let us know if these resonate with you, or if I can elaborate on any specific point.

Per your comment about the tokens appreciating;

Doctors and care providers set their own rates. If a token appreciates in value, the rates that doctors and care providers charge don't have to be affected by this. The value of tokens on the secondary markets won't change Care Providers $15.00 (just an example) fee for an appointment. If the DOC token is $1, then it will take 15 tokens, but if the DOC token is $30, it would only cost 0.5 Tokens. So the price of the tokens is independent from peoples ability to pay for the services.

Indeed, medicine now needs big changes because many problems are present in it, one of the main problems is poor quality diagnosis, lack of qualified doctors, diagnostic equipment and medicines. These problems can be solved by incorporating into the healthcare of the blockchain technology that significantly reduce the number of problems in this area by lowering the cost of medical services.
