Yes you need the ETH address while you are investing into the ICO project. However you need it to receive the tokens but it is not mandatory to invest with the ETH payments. It depends on the ICO that you are investing into. In current scenarios there are many ICO's who are accepting the BTC, and Credit Card payments also. So you can leave that option behind. But you will still need the address to receive the tokens so you will need to create one. Basically ethereum address is like any other is simply random string derived from private key. If it's a ETH ERC20 token then yeah, you definitely need an ETH address to receive the ICO tokens.

These days all ICOs will tell you to pay and receive on the ETH network, unless otherwise specified.

It's not a very hard process to get your ETH address, you just go onto myetherwallet, create a new wallet, write down the seeds and you should be ready to go. If you're looking to participate in ICOs in the future, you're better off creating an ETH address now.

yes you can still participate in any ICO , but the thing is that you cannot be paid for the effort you made during ICO so it is neccesary to put eth address when you are joining any ICO , because all ICO requires ETH address because it is the medium of payment.

ICo's seem to run with buy in from btc, eth, neo. sometimes one of these sometimes all 3. so yes you will need to have an ETH wallet, NEON wallet, or a btc wallet. (ETH will cover most of the ico's...ETH and neon will cover pretty much all) I suggest getting a hardware wallet like ledger nano s and use that to access most of the coins you buy and participate in ico's

Yeah you are right. Campaigns that are using erc20 tokens requires you to have an erc20 compatible wallet like  MEW or ImToken because exchange wallet s are not accepted. Some campaigns also have their own wallet to download, and some are waves compatible so you'll need waves wallet. Pretty good to know especially for newbies before participating in campaigns.

You need ethereum address to receive your payment and support all your crypto activity ( trade/ invest ), besides that create ethereum is not difficult.
