I'm not sure about cryptocurrency. But Blockchain are changing the world. That change is not yet clear. We have seen Blockchain in Medical, Health,  Finance, Entertainment. Everything is Blockchain. In a few years, perhaps, we will see the change more clearly.

Cryptocurrency strength lies in its underlying technology which is blockchain, blockchain has the power to completely revolutionized not only the financial system but the whole way we operate in society today.  
As far as changing the world is concerned, we have already seen that BTC is a complete financial system which is accessible to every single person on this globe and this will definitely help in reducing the poverty.
Cryptocurrency is just one application of Blockchain, today there are thousands of DAPPs running on the blockchain and there is not even a single business that can't be shifted to the blockchain.

I don't agree that it would change but I guess ut could help. 
It couldn't change the world right now since there's a lot ICO in crypto that are made only for scam.  Instead that it would help people it becomes the reason why people avoid of crypto because of the fear to become a victim of scam.

It will change if the blockchain technology will be used by the whole world and regardless of the governments of all countries. But where it leads is unknown, I think the adjustment period may be delayed
