For those who don't know

http://www.newser.com/story/177313/typhoon-death-toll-jumps-to-10k-in-1-city.html?utm_source=part&utm_medium=inbox&utm_campaign=newser

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/nov/10/typhoon-haiyan-kills-10000-in-philippines-live-updates

Just 3 weeks after Central Visayas was rocked by powerful 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake that killed hundreds. A very powerful Category 5 super typhoon hit Central Visayas. It is believed that not less than 10k died in one city alone and thousands are homeless that need food , clothing and shelter. As of now many areas still isolated and cutoff. Me and my family still lucky that God still spared us. I think this is the only way I can help my fellow Visayans.

If you have spare money you can donate below.  Don't worry this is honest foundations.

http://www.abs-cbnfoundation.com/sk/donate.html

you can see the update and efforts on this facebook page.

Donated.

I would like to bump this thread, also if there are any Australians out there looking to donate - you can do so via: http://www.redcross.org.au/typhoon-haiyan-2013.aspx - any amount is appreciated!

Well, I live here. I can convert any bitcoins you send me to Philippine Pesos, and then remit it directly to ABSCBN Foundation, GMA Foundation and Philippine Red Cross through their bank accounts. (I can even do it online, because I have a BDO account.)

What I'm doing now is accepting donations that will be used to buy food; separate thread.

My unit is also doing a repacking operation this coming weekend. (We chop up stuff into little packs that can be given to individuals.)

I don't know. This sentence makes me a bit suspicious: Send exactly 1.00 BTC (plus miner fee) to:

You shouldn't set an amount like that when you're asking for donations. Every donations help, even the small ones....
It uses the coin base donation widget. You can specify the amount to donate in the textbox.

Yeah, but sending dust donations don't really help. Seriously. Don't send anything less than a transaction fee.

Looks like legit to me, Mark Blackard is founder of worldaid.org, http://worldaid.org/about-world-aid-homeless-children/ and is now actively involved in fundraising for typhoon victims as stated on his twitter account https://twitter.com/MarkBlackard Apparently the guy is a former paratrooper, narcotics agent in afganistan wathever and author of a book (http://www.amazon.com/Killing-Sheep-The-Righteous-Insurgent/dp/1936956004/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357391252&sr=8-1&keywords=killing+sheep+the+righteous+insurgent) He also supports Edward Snowden!

You can donate arbitrary amounts of bitcoin to http://worldaid.org/donations-for-homeless-children/ by scrolling to the bottom and click on donate bitcoins and fill in the amount. I just sended BTC0.25

Death tolls are estimated to exceed 10,000...

Revised to around 2,000. Still a terrible thing.

I challenge all, let's leave this in the hands of BITCOIN members and let's do our own relief.  I will buy up to one bitcoin from any active participating member which I will need to buy!  up to $400 max if someone will match me and start this fund!
$200-250 would be my ideal donation!!

My few bitcoins are in cold storage and any loose .001's i sent to btc-e for LITE exchange..

I will also give up to 20-25 LTC for this and you will see my new forum listing for LTC relief support!

Anyone?

Not sure if my donation offer warrants its own topic (as it's a one-shot deal for 1 person with a US shipping address), but:

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.
