Normally I would just update my windows version and copy the folder over to the linux machine...If i change the values to reflect the current files in the update bat will this work?

for testing purposes i frequently swap from windows to linux... so i like having both with the same version of CP.

Yes, it would work, just remember to always have a backup of the .jar, just in case. There really isn't any reason to update the Windows version though, there is literally nothing that could make a difference, just some code changes that do the same things but in a different way (completely transparent while running).

All running smooth so far. it has been about 3 hours...

Now...here is a little something I think should be added...

I run 7 GPU in one machine. I love seeing the total hash, but how can I tweak a single card? a suggestion would be...just like when we press i, or e....we have a g command...meaning all info at the bottom stops and we get numbers that represent the hash amount each gpu is getting.

so the bottom of the window would look something like:

GPU-->404  350  354  344  349  351  355

press g and enter, and it goes back the old way...

lately I have been having troubles with some pools. These are the ones with the problems:

mtred java certificate problem
btcmonkey lagging or down
bitp java certificate problem
arsbitcoin java certificate problem
poolmunity java certificate problemn I see it might be closed down...site says...We're currently offline and are back within 2-3weeks (end of september)

anyone else having problems with those pools?

No its not.   We implemented PPLNS 1 week ago.  No longer hoppable.

1) I have my poclbm.py in ~/poclbm.  But that path (with or without the file name) doesn't seem to work in the cfg file.  What are others using?

2) I installed the java security certificate thingy in the java security directory (/etc/java-6-sun/security), but I get certificate errors with mt. red, ars, etc. Right now it's:

0.6.6a on Linux (Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit) seems to be working for me.

A few issues though:
1) 'e' for exit does not exit CP

2) the console output shows that a server is set and connected, and that there are miners running with their Mh/s, etc., but it doesn't show when any of the shares are accepted/rejected.  I am running with the -stats and -logging switches

3) this pool isn't that important, but I noticed that btcmonkey had an mistake in the default cfg file where the "i" was missing in "bitcoinmonkey.com" in the host section.

After much consideration and review of how our anti-pool hopping system is looked upon by members of the Bitcoin community, we have chosen to change the way in which it is working.

In the Past:
If a user participated in less than 50% of the round, their shares would be reduced by 10%, unless a donation was set, in which case, no penalty was applied.

This allowed for our users with legitimate disconnects, or reasons for being unable to mine during long rounds to avoid being hit with a penalty.

Some people seem to belive that this is a negative aspect of the anti-hopping system due to the easily cheatable nature of the system and the fact that pool hoppers are still given a large incentive to exploit our pool.

From Now on:
If a user participates in less than 50% of the round, their shares will be reduced by 50%, regardless of donation. 50% of the penalty fee will be directed toward the donations account and will be applied to server costs and future monthly contests. The other 50% of the penalty will be removed from the total shares for the round, which will in-hand cause the value of all remaining shares in the round to increase.

Example -

100,000 shares are in the round.

User A has 5000 shares and is NOT a hopper. Their estimated earnings before penalties are applied is 2.5 BTC.

User B has 5000 shares and IS A hopper. Their estimated earnings before penalties are applied is 2.5 BTC.

Once penalties are applied, User B's shares are reduced to 2500 where 1250 has been credited to donations and 1250 has been removed from the round. After the penalty is applied, User B's unconfirmed earnings are 1.265 BTC and User A's unconfirmed earnings are 2.5316 BTC.

At this time, any donation currently set on your account will remain in place. Donations will be processed prior to any penalties. As a reminder, donations are entirely voluntary and are not required to use this pool.

We will use this new method of calculating penalties for a one week trial period, at which time we will decide whether or not it is effectively deterring pool hopping and effectively rewarding loyal members of the pool.

still hoppable, but you would be forced to re-hop to the pool, if you set hop-off point to 51%, and submit new shares in longer than average rounds what decreases your value of course

I don't think it will work like that. If you had to rehop it wouldn't be hopping. And if you set hop off to 51% you'll definitely lose long term.


This is more like Slush's score and even with the 50% tax it will still have a point before which you'l make better than 1.0 efficiency. I'm guessing round 15% difficulty.

BTW thanks for the headsup. I'd heard they were going to tax even donators, but wasn't sure when they were going to start. Cheers for finding the post.
