Aw, come on. Can't they put a couple 6-pin pcie power sockets in place of the terminals?

Im split on the issue. most MOBOs that are ideal (cheap 600w, preferably modular) only have 2 pci connectors, usually running on the same 6 wires. this isnt enough for the sytem, meaning you still need either a higher-priced PSU or to chop up the ATX cable.
simplicity = cost

I wouldn't mind seeing both types of connectors offered in the next revision.  It looks like there is plenty of room on the PCB.

a few recent units seem to have shipped with pci leads attached to the screw terminals. if thats the case, its a very smart move from bitmain since it likely costs them $0.50 but saves us $2-10 in chopping up a cable

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

The included adapters were a nice surprise this time.

1 U = 1¾ inch = 4,445 cm

EDIT:
Or it's not what you meant for Wink

Under development Modular UPGRADEABLE Miner (MUM). Looking for investors.
Changing one PCB with screwdriver and you have brand new miner in hand... Plug&Play, scalable from one module to thousands.

Guys, they are very busy setting up deals that will make it easier for all of you. Just try to be a little bit more patient.
And no, I am not going into details. You'll see it when it's done.

I am selling in stock OneStringMiner boards, based on the Bitfury chips. Have a look here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=495536.0

"I know something you don't, be patient."

:/

Updating potential customers takes approximately one minute.  Five if you add a little depth.  Pardon the sarcasm, but no shit we'll see it when it is done, what we're asking for is updates.  A bunch of us work as part of the greater reseller chain (the world outside of Bitcointalk), aka bulk distribution made easy for the manufacturer, but we need to be kept in the know.

Guess it is good that despite them not answering PM's for other people you are granted some inside knowledge.

"I know something you don't, be patient."
It was a polite request, not a demand like you quote it.

Guess it is good that despite them not answering PM's for other people you are granted some inside knowledge.
I, like others, have been in contact with them since November.
And the insight knowledge is not as much as you probably think.
Nevertheless, I prefer not to speculate about what will come, just know it will be good for all of us.

No answer means no holding money's for a now mystery product, a quick update would get people to keep holding out...

*ding, ding* We have a winner!

I'm thankful that you've been in touch with them, Ben.

On the flipside, I know a handful of people who have tried contacting them and heard nothing.  I also see a potential U1 group buy thread where even the person running it, sanctioned by Bitmain, says he can't get in touch with them.  They're obviously not scammers since they are pushing out working hardware with the S1 units, but FTLOFG spend the time to let people know what is happening.  Just look at AsicMiner, vapid wasteland of speculation with an updated whenever the cat feels like it.  Again, Bitmain can be different - they are choosing not to.

Im fed up (as well as some of my group buy participants) on Bitmain not replying to my pm and failed to confirm the U1 delivery time. Im closing the group buy.

U1 will be sold in this weekend. BITMAIN account will release the detailed information.
Sorry for late release of U1, since a capacitor defect on the PCB.
